Hello everyone!
I've been posting away here, and figured it's about time I introduced myself. I live with my family (husband, son, daughter, 2 greyhounds and a cat with an attitude) in Watertown, Wisconsin, which is a town of about 25,000 located midway between Milwaukee and Madison. We've rented all our lives, but finally decided to take the plunge and buy a house. We have nearly an acre on a little hilltop on the edge of town, and we love it!
Last year was the first year I've been able to have a real garden (other than just plunking a few plants in the border between the sidewalk and the house at the various duplexes we've lived in). I had so much fun with it and I can't wait until things start to come up and bloom this year. At the moment, I just have a border and a small garden near my front porch, but this year I'm planning to expand. Bit by bit and year by year...I'll make this place more plants than grass. ;)
I'm already loving this community and I'm so glad I joined. What an excellent resource and a great bunch of people!
Here's a picture of my garden last year. This year I'm hoping it'll be even better!

Hi Kayly!
A belated welcome from Texas! I'm pretty new here myself, but your right it's an awesome place. Your garden looks wonderful. And a whole acre to play with! Wow!
LOL the only pictures I ever see of Wisconsin is during the playoffs and it's like negative 20 degrees or something like that. It's nice to see the sunny side of the state!
Welcome to Dave's Garden, KaylyRed. I used to live in Wisconsin (near Richland Center), and my mom's family is in and around the Beloit/Janesville area. Your garden is beautiful!!!
Welcome Kayly, I’m new too. I really like your garden pic. Did you get much action at the hummingbird feeder?
Sunnyg, welcome to you, too! :) Thanks for the compliment!
We did get some action at the hummingbird feeder, yes. I suspect it'll be even better this year now that the hummers know it's here. The birds and butterflies loved the coneflowers and rudbeckias, too. I was pleasantly surprised by how attracted they were to this new and still little garden.
Hi and Welcome KaylyRed !!! Glad you joined ! Enjoy your new home and garden! (I know you will !)
Hi Kayly welcome. when i was 17 many many yrs ago. i lived in Columbus. Sister lives in Beaver Dam.
Thanks for the welcome Kayly! That’s great you’ve already had some interest from the hummers and other critters, and I’m sure you will get even more activity as your garden expands. It really is fun to see birds and butterflies respond to plant choices…we actually bought one of our salvias just because there was a hummingbird flitting around it at the nursery ;-).
