Guinness corned beef??

Bettendorf, IA

Anyone ever try a recipe like this? I am corning my own beef so I want to cook that traditionally to see how i do but was thinking of doing a second one this way now that we have guests comeing. I found all kinds of versions of this recipe and there were a ton of reviews at allrecipes raving about it. Most people seem ot put it in their crock pot though. My crock pot is only 3 qts. so i don;t think I could although I plan to do a 2-3 lb corned beef.

Ingredients:

4 pounds corned beef brisket
1 cup brown sugar
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle Irish stout beer (e.g. Guinness®)

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Rinse the beef completely and pat dry.
Place the brisket on rack in a roasting pan or Dutch oven. Rub the brown sugar on the corned beef to coat entire beef, including the bottom. Pour the bottle of stout beer around, and gently over the beef to wet the sugar.
Cover, and place in preheated oven. Bake for 3-4 hours. Allow to rest 5 minutes before slicing.
