I did this a couple of years ago & the effect was amazing. The rose will send out shoots in all directions & flowers all over. Looks odd now, but in June it will be beautiful. I haven't trimmed the tips yet...a bit early.

Shrub Rose - new design
Hey I can totally picture it! What a great idea!
neat..must check my Rose of Sharons' - however they are under 6' of snow at the moment...come on spring!
I really, really like that effect. How clever you are, my dear. Please post pictures when it's blooms :) I'll bet that is just stunning.
I didn't see what you were referring to at first, but as I look a bit closer, I can see you've curled the tips around. What did you secure them with?
Sandy
I used little butterfly hair clips, which are cheap @ a Dollar Store.
Very imaginative Joanna!
I looked John Davis up, that's a a beautiful rose, Joanna. I'll bet that is striking against the white background. Do you find you have color changes as the rose buds mature?
Interesting effect jb. Any photos of how it looked in bloom?
Theresa
Great idea Joanna!
And by the way, I love your garden!!!!!! It's how I envision mine every spring.....but then I end up trying 'too many' new plants/seeds and it ends on the wild side :)
Your roses are just beautiful!

Oh, your roses look so nice Jo! Will have to come south for a visit to see them in person one of these days. Ü
