Easiest Herb Garden Ever

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I have about 20 pots that I have installed a separate drip irrigation into each one. All I have to do is go out to the spigot every day and turn it on for 15 minutes or so. They are all watered perfectly. When we go out of town, I just put a timer on the hose and it automatically waters for me as often as I need it to. If I can install this system then anyone can and now I never lose a plant to drought, even here in Florida. This is my kind of gardening. I use herbs of some type every day, even if it's only for a garnish.

Very pretty pic of your healthy looking herbs!

Your irrigation hoses are hidden pretty well--can't make out where they are in the pic.

Did you buy your irrigation materials at a big box store and do it yourself?

Sounds like a great idea!

I bought everything at Lowes and just followed the instructions. I had never tried anything like this and it was so easy. I especiallty like that the spray amount can be adjusted by twisting the top so that plants that like it drier or ones that love moisture all still only need the same watering time. Maybe you can see better in this pic? Hope this helps.

It looks like a great set up. You look like you grow all kinds of plants in pots ,I saw a tomato and peppers? what else ?

Yes, that's a good close-up. So I just peruse Lowe's selection for container watering stuff?

We use raised beds for most of our "crops" but the extras always end up in herb-land. I do 'maters, peppers, and lettuce in pots. They shade the herbs when it gets hot. Everything was at Lowes and pretty reasonable. It is five years old and has never needed a repair. A very good investment.

Excellent news.

When Lowes opens their seasonal garden center section with the irrigation equipment I'll see what I can put together!

Are those plastic or clay pots?

I'm thinking of doing something similar, and I'm also in a "hot" zone!

We use plastic so that there is not so much evaporation. I'm glad you couldn't tell because I like the clay pot look and try not to deviate from it. I think you will like the ease of a set up like this. Good luck.

I put together a drip irrigation system. It is EASY!!

You can even make overhead misters with it.

More fun than legos. :)

Jo ~ if you want to use clay, you can also sink the pots in ground, that will slow the moisture evaporation.
