And so am I... I am so ready to get these brugs back out in the ground and get these cuttings out of water! They have stayed in water all winter because I have no where to keep them if I pot them up!
MM is ready for Spring!
they look very healthy and happy.
i envy you, we have another 4 weeks before it will be warm enough to free our brugs from their buckets and pots.
It may be that long here too, because Texas is so crazy our average last frost date is April 13th or something like that. It is really not safe to put them out before then because it still too risky
...but it is so tempting. The highs forecast for the rest of the week will be in the mid to high 80s with a lows in the 50s & 60s, one 46ºF. The average last frost date is during the first week of March. but there is always that freak late freeze. I've lost most of my fruit crop the last two years to a late freeze.
Wow those look great. Are they all from MM? Good luck getting them potted up.
Betty, yeah that is what I mean. Those late freezes make it too risky.
Robyn, no the cuttings are from many other brugs, but none from MM. MM and GL are the only ones that I dug up and potted because they were not as large as the ones I chopped down.
So you cut all the other ones to the ground and left them to over winter that way?
Robyn,
Yes, Most will come back from the root. Some already are sprouting. With the massive root system they grow fast. I had one last year that I cut to the ground and it was probably only about 4 ft tall. By the time I cut it down this year it was about 10 ft. Bloomed all year.
Average last frost is March 15. Last weekend it got down to the low 20S and today I got a sunburn. I will be planting Brugs, Bananas, etc.... this next weekend, I can't wait.
kenboy
So envious of your heat. It got up to 58 here yesterday. 51 today and tomorrow the forcast is for rain and 46 degrees - down in the low 30's at night.
Your brugs look very healthy. I wish I could cut to the ground and have them come up the next year. I wouldn't have to lug these large pots in and out. And 10 feet, I doubt I will ever see that.
Very fun though, I am enjoying the few little ones I have.
Big, little... they are all beautiful.
Boy do you have a busy time coming up! I can hardly wait to see them in bloom :)
Here have a bit of our Autumn heat ...got up to 86F today! it didn't get up to that all Summer! (usually in the 90's /100's plus) so by all means please take ours ...this Easter our easter eggs will be melting.
Have fun putting your lovely Angels out!
chrissy
Chrissy,
Oh, I will for sure. I am so tempted to do as Kenboy is and put them out this weekend, but I am just a little afraid to. It is likely that we will have one more cold spell before it is over. I don't want to lose them after taking care of tem all winter!
Carol
Kenboy,
Did you plant your bananas and brugs?
Yes.
I wish I were brave enough to do that! I can hardly wait till they and other things are in the ground! But I am chicken... I will be waiting till April 15th!
I wish I could plant something outside right now. Our average last frost is May 31, so I have a quite awhile still.
Last Friday it was 89 and I don't know how hot it was in the hoop-house. We also needed to spray and I do not like spraying in a closed area.
