I just came from Wallmart and bought a 64 inch tall, 4 shelf / tier metal greenhouse with plastic zippered outer shell for 39 bucks, whoohooo! It was a great deal, and we bought "under the cabinet" florescent lights for 7 bucks a piece and hung them in there from the shelves. Now, if I can just figure out what seeds I want to plant, lol. I can never decide. I have checked greenhouses like this out on the web, but when you add in the S&H it was always way too expensive. If you are in the market for one of these, check it out. I guess I am supposed to say something like "I get no profit from saying this?" lol Well I don't.

I purchased an inexpensive 4 tier greenhouse tonight
Hey Kathy...great job...THAT'S the same one I bought from Wally World last year....love it!!! They didn't have it IN store last year but had just started that site-to-store things...so NO shipping chgs...yipeee
My daughter has TWO of these and I am so jealous! She has them outside(zone 5,Ohio) and put a little heater in the bottom shelf and has germinated gazillions of seeds. She was able to keep the temps between 60-70 degrees when it was 20 outside.I think she got hers at Lowes.I'm stuck with my coldframes.
I have one a lot like that. I picked it up clearance at Target last year for $15. It has the same shape, and opens the same, same shelves, just clear plastic and different color lining. Gotta love good deals!
Kathy,
One warning! If you place this one outside, take care it's tied to something. Last thing you want is that a gush of wind topples it over just when you filled it with your precious babies. Happened to me and it really broke my heart.....
thanks T, this is staying inside nice and cozy.

Giant Eagle has them for sale, exact greenhouse, ten bucks cheaper, only $29.00.

Reminds me of one of those things that hang in the closet to protect the extra clothes. I don't have a GH so my seeds are in the old van in the yard. We also store the horse feed in it. A very versatile vehicle for one that doesn't move. LOL
Yeppers, I bought several of those a couple of years ago for $20 each at Big Lots. I left them outside in the yard lined up against the fence but the metal poles holding the bottom shelf rotted away within the first year. Getting zapped a couple of times by my sprinkler system each week and our hot Texas Summers probably were major contributors to their deterioration.
Of course, the one I kept sheltered on my back porch is still in great shape. They do work for keeping in the moisture for starting seeds.

Happy Easter,
That is such a good idea
Boy you sure learn so much on this site
I LOVE Walmart. I will have to see if I can find one at a good price like everyone else did.
Thanks for sharing

Watch your big lots and dollar store sometimes they have them for 19.99 :) I picked up two at the dollar store on sale last fall for 8 or $9 a piece. This is the time to look for them! Watch the zipper be really careful with it they seem sturdy but before you know it it rips from the seem to the plastic of course I've been using mine for a few years now.
I was very lucky - I picked up 2 at Lowes for $12 each - they were just trying to unload them and make room for new inventory. :-) DH finally assembled them yesterday, so tomorrow I will take them outside and tie them the the trailer. :-)
Did you JUST get them at Lowes, or last season? ::hoppin in the car::
No, alas . . . I bought them about a month ago. DH grumbled, but then he found out that they cost something like $60 in the garden catelogues.
Apparently, Lowes offers deep discounts on Friday mornings on stuff they just want to clear out. I was just lucky and happened to get that last two.
Michaela,
You are soooo lucky!! What time does Lowes open on Friday?? lol
Kathy
Kathy,I will be sitting outside the doors when they open, thinkin' of you! BTW my Salvia Trans. seeds germinated already!!
Gail
There's definitly a difference in quality in the covers, imo, and I think you got a good deal on the better one. I've had mine for four years with the covers on the outside for winter and the covers and zippers still work beautifully. Be sure to bring the covers in for summer - it's the sun that will deteriorate the plastic and you'll lose the covers in a couple of years if you let the sun beat on them for the summers.
Kathy
Hi Gail,
I'm glad to hear my seeds are doing well for you! I have had mainly 100% germination on all of them that I have started, and we won't talk about how many that is, ( thanks to you and your daughter's seed starting packs )lol.
I won't be using my greenhouse outside, I will pack it up when it is warm enough to put the flats out. I will use my cold frame, well that's the plan at least!
I saw them at Lowes just a couple of days ago. Didn't pay attention to price since I have one that I bought from Big Lots years ago.
I just got one like that this weekend at Lowes . I can't wait to put it outside and start harding off seedlings. Now if only the weather would warm up just a little. I am over excited this year, new house and that means a new garden to fill up. though I do miss alot of my old plants that I could not dig up before the move.
