Here's my Petunia pot

Mesilla Park, NM

I'm watching it like a hawk.. put in some oxalis they had 1/2 price at walmart yesterday (two pots of it) and put some of the petunias in other pots around the yard.. I saw a smaller yellow sulphur too.. hopefully they will find my pots. I can see them from my windows in the kitchen. I'm trying not to buy anymore filler plants till these cold snaps die down..

My style of potting plants too! Looks very nice, Antoinette! You courtyard and gardens are coming along beautifully. I have always said, "Plant it and they will come!" Trust me, they will find you!!! :-)

I am finishing up work on my patio area. Finally! I hope to have it done by next Saturday. I have my garden area on this thread:

I would love any suggestions or opinions about my backyard layout.

Thank you Becky,
There are mourning doves all along the top of that fence right now, it is very windy and they sometimes take cover inside the cubby holes there. I just love watching them when I'm a the computer. What a sight it is and the babies in the nests are really neat.

I'll take a look at your garden area.. this has taken almost a year to complete. There were about 50 Chinese Elm all along this fence line that they made into a hedge.. We had them pulled out with a truck and chains..lol and the seedlings are still coming up in some areas.. I hope they didn't leave too many roots behind.

Is that oxalis the same as wood sorrel? If so you might end up with Cyna Blue butterflies using it as a larval host :o)

Petunias are also a larval host for several butterflies. I've not grown the store bought varieties so can't vouch for them but the native ruellia is a larval host for buckeyes, peacocks, malachites and pale-banded crescents. They also attract a variety of little skippers looking for nectar.

Must say, that red is a spectacular color. That is sure to catch the curiosity of both butterflies and hummingbirds.

Love those tall pots too!!! Makes enjoying and photographing butterflies a tad easier.

Yes, it is wood sorrel and I just got some more oxalis from easytogrow bulbs.. I may just go back to Walmart and get a couple more plants, I dug up some of the roots to see if they were the same type of tubers that I received in the mail order, and they look alot like the tubers, so I'm hoping they come back and multiply.

I'm so happy to hear that they attract Butterflies..

We have a couple of yellow/gold hummingbirds here and Annas.. The yellow ones are really territorial. They look Golden yellow.

I have not filled the feeders because of the wind, but i need to get out there and just do it. I love your feeders that you make.
