Does it put out Pups Or Runners ?

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

It was in a large clump when I got it so I assume it was from pups

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

We will Have To Ask Mike or B Willams am not Sure

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

budgie, I'm far from an expert, but yours looks quite different by the shape of the leaves. Yours are more arrow-shaped and the leaves on c. formosana are more round and heart-shaped, with the pictures of the larger plant you can see better.

The one you have looks similar to a running type I have, people call it green runner, the name is so generic. The tiny dot in the center is purple instead of white like yours....good luck with an ID, though, it may be easier to identify it when it gets bigger. There have been lots of new pics and entries added to plantfiles under colocasia lately, you may find it there...

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

I do have the green runner like you described also. It loves water and I grow it in a pot right in the pond submerged. The roots come out the bottom of the pots and runners come up from the bottom without even being secured at the bottom. They seem to do even better in water then dirt.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I believe the formosana to be quite rare in cultivation. So i would be surprised if it is the same.
If it gets really big and the leaves are like umbrellas then maybe it is

Mike

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Nope, just your average size ee. 3-4 ft.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Saying that mine hasn't got that big yet. But its growing.
Mike

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I'm still curious what yours look like now, Mike, it looked pretty big by the end of the year

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Still talkin Colocasia's?

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Mines about Five Feet Tall Now

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Dang! Let's call Guiness!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

LOL!...where would you find room...

Paul, I pulled a jeoquniii lineatum pup yesterday (did I send you one of those, Mike?), it's not quite a foot tall yet. I'd like it to get a little bigger before I send it to you, but it will be in the next week or two

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

5ft thats cheating some how... you and your fancy tropical weather... how come its bigger then the one i have been growing for a year? Thats just cruel!
Never heard of Jeoqunii whats it do?

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

it's a xanthosoma:
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/62936/

I thought I had sent you one, but maybe the bulbs were too big to conceal... it doesn't do anything bedsides get nice and full ...not as cool as yours probably
