Pharmaceuticals in Drinking Water

Canton, GA(Zone 7b)

This weekend a story came out about the vast array of pharmaceuticals that are found in the drinking water of 41 million + Americans...

Here's a link to the story, http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/03/10/pharma.water1.ap/index.html

Even though they say they are extremely low doses, and that they are "safe", a low dose of something everyday of your life still makes me wary of the word "safe". I just don't understand how it could be perfectly "safe" to ingest a small dose of an anti-epileptic or pain medication everyday, ya know?

I work in environmental protection, in the watershed protection area, so even though I hear it's safe from outside sources, it hits especially close to home as it is a topic that could affect my job and how I do it, as well as my wellbeing...

Anyone have any thoughts on this?
