tom thumb lettuce
Hi Herbie! Hope you've survived winter. As long as your bucket has drainage and loose potting soil, you could start your tom thumb seeds in there just fine. My humble opinion would be that the absolute most your bucket could support would be three growing plants. But you could try up to six and eat the thinnings. Others may have better advice but give your idea a try. Good luck!
roseone - thank you so much. i have two of those bryers containers so six will be enough. if i wasn't on a diet i would get more of them. LOL
I know what you mean....ice cream is so good!
Herbie- I grew tom thumb lettuce last year. The heads are very small, maybe about 3 inches across. I love the little leaves and it was one of our favorites. I harvested leaves cut and come again and it lasted all summer.

jen - thanks for that info.
Herbie~ I grew tom thumb lettuce last year and really liked it a lot. You will love it. The ice cream carton idea is very interesting. When you do this experiment, will you take some pics and let us know how it goes? I am interested in how it works out for you.
will do. i plan to start them outdoors about april 15th unless someone from my area know a better time to do it.
