Looking for ranunculas and anemone coronaria bulbs

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Any body know of a place to buy these that is reasonable in price? I have seen a few places online but hoped someone might have the inside scoop.

Easy to Grow bulbs used to have them, but I don't know about the price, they're usually OK in price- not too high or low.
Wish we could grow them, don't they have weird requirements or something? Don't they need early warm springs or something? Do you grow them?

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

I have grown them, but I did order some from the garden outlet place; so now I am just waiting to see if they really come in. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the link about ednie's. I was having trouble setting up an account. Since our farm is incorporated, I was thinking they should even let me do wholesale. When I pressed the link for buying retail it popped up Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm which is so funny, this place is only 3 miles from me. I used to sell dahlia bulbs through Wooden Shoe during their tulip festival days. I have been asked to answer phones over there a couple of days a week.

You are so fortunate you can grow the calla lilies so well. I have only had luck with the old white ones. What is the trick with the new Callafonia hybrids? And in TN you can do crape myrtle which is a struggle here.

Dandridge, TN(Zone 6a)

We moved here a year ago, and live out in the woods, so all we have right now is rock and trees, lol. But when the crape myrtle is in bloom it is so pretty, I think of reasons to have DH drive me into town so I can see it.
Hm, how to grow Callas? Stick em in the ground and stand back? lol. I don't know what part of OR Mount Angel is in, but there is a big Calla grower in OR called ZCallas or Oregon Coastal Flowers. They are in Tillamook- is that near you?
I was surprised I got callas to grow here in our rock and clay. I thought about opening a pottery studio, we have so much of it, ha ha, it's not the red clay but looks just like the stuff in a pottery class.
Callas don't like their roots too hot, if you plant them too shallow they may suffer from stress.
What happened to the ones you tried to grow?

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I have seen the ranunculas at Lowe's and even seen them at Family Dollar.
Are the Calla's hardy in your zone? I came across some Hyrbids at Lowe's that were hardy to 15º but I didn't grab any. :oP But now I know why the one I do have growing isn't doing so well since I moved it to the GH, thanks!

My neighbors had some callas come up in their garden this year, but I always dig mine up and store them. I left one little patch in the yard this year just to see what happens.

Well I hope you have great luck with the ones you left in the ground!

Lenjo - Here is a pic of a Ranunculus I got from Easy to grow bulbs last Oct. They were very nice size and all are currently blooming...

Wow, what a great color. I did find some through a tip I learned on this forum. And they are in the ground. It will be June before I see bloom here.

Nipomo, CA(Zone 8a)

Hey Don, Last year I planted some Ranunculus that I had bought from a co-op (Blooming Bulb I think) and they did nothing last year. However I am seeing some buds and actually have one bloom. Yea! Does it normally take a year for them to bloom? It was my first try with them.
Thanks

Hi Dayna - In our climate these bulbs should be planted between Sep -and Nov and bloom between March and June. Deep water after planting and then only lightly water no more than once per week until you start seeing growth and then water and fertilize like you would any other plant. I planted mine in Nov and began seeing growth in early January and all mine are blooming now but I sure its warmer here. Remember, water deeply when planted and very lightly once per week until you see growth. After the blooms have finished comtinue watering and fertilizing until the foiliage turns yellow at which point just cut them back to the ground. They should naturilize in your zone and come back yearly. I hope this helps and good luck!
