Dragonfly Farms Nursery

Snohomish, WA

Went out to the nursery today! What a drive from Bellevue to Kingston, and then to Snohohmish. But it was well worth it! I met Heidi and we picked out a few plants. The place looks great! I love the bench with the hen and chicks growing on it. She even pulled out a plant for me out of her own garden! ( wish I could just remember what it was) If you haven't been out there yet GO!!!! It was well worth the drive, too bad I got there so late, just minutes before she closed! I could have spent hours going thru her stock!
Thanks Heidi for showing me around! One loyal customer won! Sorry I kept you from dinner!

Very cool, Gordon. I'm beginning to think I'm the only one who hasn't been out to see Heidi yet. What all did you get? Are you going to Rach's work party tomorrow or do you have to work?

Snohomish, WA

I promised my parents I would work in there yard and plant all the plants I have bought for them. But I can make it after 12 if that is ok. Just need her address and directions.
Got two tasmania vine, two cobra lilies, ploygonum aubertii vine, eucomis 'Octopus', ligulana japonica, and something out of her yard thet I can't remember the name!!!She said it gets huge!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Wow. You made quite a killing. That's fantastic. It's funny - seems like everyone comes away with something that Heidi dug up that they can't remember the name of. I can just hear her, "And here's this, and here's this, and then you can take this, how about one of these, do you think you'd like this, easy to grow, no problem . . ." Hard to keep up!!

I'll get Rach to send you the directions. It's going to be barbecue for lunch, apparently. The first one of the season for me.

Snohomish, WA

What bbq, more of a boil! Suppose to rain, but we have the worst weatherman in the country! I'm thinking it'll be nice enough. Now I paid for all but the ------- out of her yard. Had I got there one hour earlier I would have been broke! LOL
Will show up for sure!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I know what you mean about spending at the nursery. It's crazy, this addiction.

I'm hoping that the clouds will be kind to us tomorrow, but I'm bringing a change of clothes, just in case. :-)

Snohomish, WA

Should we bring something for Rachel to plant?

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Well I'm sure she'd never turn down a plant. LOL ;-) I hadn't anticipated bringing her anything, but maybe I should think twice about that. She does want us to bring shovels and rakes. And I never go anywhere to do yard work without my mattock . . .

I know Pix is bringing a bunch of stuff - she has lots of seedlings going - she said to bring 4" pots if you want any of them. Carla will be there - I know you guys were going to do some trading.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

I'm bringing a few things for you, Katie, with enough that other folks can have a chunk as well, if they like. The Pulmonaria isn't coming along as fast as I thought it would be. It was huge last year but tiny so far this season. I'm thinking that it needs more time before I dig it up. :(

Still, it seems like there should be more, even though it's only March 7th. Guess I'm very impatient this year and nothing is humoring me!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Wow - I feel like lots of stuff is coming up. Funny - I guess it's all relative. I guess it's because I feel behind in planting. Oh, and my little Alchemilla is coming back. Yippee. I'm bringing a Nikko Blue for you - is there anything else that I promised you, do you think?

I swear - hanging with you guys makes every day like [better than] Christmas.

Snohomish, WA

I hear you Susiebell! Where the heck is spring anyways? AND lose an hour of sleep this weekend? How cool! But at least there is some new stuff popping up! I just want to have a little of my dining room back!

Oh, wow! I wasn't really expecting anything-are you sure it's for me?
Yay! so glad the alchemilla is coming back. It must just be a little slower than the bigger one. I added loads of plants last year, so I have lots of stuff just coming out of their first winter in my garden. So, I'm really excited to see how they all did over the winter. That also means I've got tons of stuff that isn't adapted yet, or simply isn't big enough or established enough that I'm ready to dig them up.

I'm bringing cardboard and a rake and maybe a shovel, but it'll be an old icky one. DH was thinking about coming with me, but he may be changing his mind.

I probably won't be there right at nine, either. Still need to load up the car in the morning.

NWG, LOL! I've got a few things that I'm tired of tripping over in the house, too. I've got an elephant ear in the bathroom quickly getting large and a dwarf papyrus next to my desk-and I'm not even into tropicals! Plus, I'm very late to starting seeds so I'll be dealing with that for weeks yet.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I think we talked about a hydrangea and the Nikko Blue is always layering little new plants.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Ok, twist my arm, lol! ;) Yawn, tired tonight...feel like I am forgetting something important. :(

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Seeds, seeds, lots of seeds. Anyone want white Escholzia babies?
Pots, DL's for Tilly, Cardboard for Rach, and seeds...
And the plant swap at Jacquie's is so soon.....

NWgordon, I sense the making of a greenhouse in your yard!!
Yes, I have many seedlings I am bringing. Please bring pots and maybe something to write on the pots with. I better go to bed.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Katie59 dont forget to pack the dog wood I will be there maybe a little late, and a car load of cardboard for Rach, and some extra tools.

Tills, I have your primula, too.

Kingston, WA

It was nice to meet nw gordon. We had a great time I have the greatest lady helping me sometimes and she is so nice and organized but now I can't find things. So we walked a little extra. NW Gordon got a tetrapanax out of the garden. I have them potted up but I can't find them. Have a great day at Rachel's I think it is going to be great out.

Hey I heard that Heronswood is going to be open July 26th. We might want to check the garden conservancy site. If anyone hasn't gone I suggest to mark your calendar. It is well worth it, and go early last year there was over 1500 people I finally got my place cleared out at 7:30 at night. It was a great day. Heidi

Snohomish, WA

Thank you Heidi! I kept thinking rice something and I thought I was just hungry!Going to bring one thing to Rachel's the rest I keep for my ever growing garden!
Again, super cool place to hang DFN, can't go like weekly, but every other would be good, Ap 27 will be a fun day!

Heidi, do you have your tetrapanax growing in full sun?

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Geesh, I wish you guys were all in my Master Gardener group. We would make many many more $$$s than we do now. LOL

Kingston, WA

I have one growing in full sun and one in part shade . I would recommend part shade. Afternoon shade at best. With a little summer water for best growth. I think you got one last year for your leaves. Very cool.

I got a few leaves from yours last year. But I bought 'steriodal giant' from you and want to place it appropriately. Partial shade. Okay. It's not in the right place at all. Must move it before it gets used to the area. Still haven't painted that big tetrapanax leaf. I'm afraid to touch it.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Sorry - Mary. I would have brought the dogwood if I'd had my truck. But Kate's car was so full as is. We will get together this summer and I'll get them to you. :-)

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

No problem
