Garden Value Outlet

Has anyone received any bulbs from them this year? I placed a large order but it was supposed to be here a week ago. I wouldn't worry except no one is answering the phone there, and I haven't gotten a response to my email, either.

I bought several Amaryllis from them this winter. Received large bulbs and had no problems.

I talked to Andy at the home office, who checked into it and my bulbs should be on their way. Whew! They had good reviews but nothing recently, and when I checked the website, there were no callas listed under summer bulbs (not even a "sold out".... so I guess I turned into one of "those" customers that harrass a seller!
Andy also said I would be happy with the size of the bulbs, so I'll report back after I receive them...

Glad you heard from them Susan. You also reminded me that I need to leave them feedback.

Thank you guys for the information about Garden Value Outlet. I found them through your thread here after a google search. I placed an order and their prices seem very reasonable. Again, thanks, Joann

OK, here's the update- A BIG DOUBLE THUMBS DOWN!!!
I cannot recommend Garden Value Outlet or Ednies, where my bulbs came from. I received the box today (almost 3 weeks late) and 1/2 of the order was not shipped- not available. This was after I received an email 3/8 saying ALL ITEMS IN YOUR ORDER HAVE BEEN PROCESSED. I took this to mean everything was on it's way. One item I ordered (that was not shipped) wasn't even on the packing list.
I'm so disappointed and upset, I ordered the bulbs in December, as soon as their spring ordering opened up, it's not like I ordered at the last minute when they were low on inventory. If they would have told me they couldn't get half the items, I would have looked elsewhere, now other vendors are sold out.
Booo!!

Oh boy not so good. I guess I will have just see.

Oh, and to top things off, I checked my bank account online- they charged me for all the bulbs I ordered, even if they didn't send them to me!

I've ordered for years from Ednies, and had nothing but great bulbs, and great service. Speak to the owner Jeffrey, and I'm sure he will make it right.

In my opinion Ednies is the absolute best bulb company out there. Many of the business owners I know do all their business with them. Especially the lilies.

I'm not familiar with Garden Value Outlet. I assume they are a store that carries Ednies products?

I can only speak about Ednies, they are a wonderful company.

Very sorry for your problems. I can only speak for my order. Shipped great, huge bulbs and I would shop with them again,

Garden Value Outlet is not a division of Ednie. They are only a retailer getting their bulbs from a wholesaler, Ednie. So the source at fault is Garden Value Outlet, apparently. Ednie would have no part in whether Garden Value Outlet sold too many bulbs for the supply they had.

It would be no different than my nursery buying callas from your nursery. Then when I sold out, and a customer wanted callas, blaming it on your company that I didn't have any.

I feel the need to defend Ednie, as I feel they are an outstanding company.

I also feel it is bad practice for a business to trash another business in the forums. That is what Garden Watchdog is for.

Polly, I'm sorry, I started this topic because I had concerns about my order and wanted to know if anyone else had used the company. Then I updated what had transpired. I've seen a lot of companies discussed in the forums, this is the bulb list and I was discussing bulbs, I thought that is appropriate... Maybe Not!

The only reason I mentioned Ednie is because the packing list had Ednie's name and logo on it, and Garden Value Outlet does not have it's name on it at all. I don't know what the deal is with all these companies hooked up together, if you look up Sellsonic, it is associated with 11 companies, Ednies and Garden Outlet among them, there are several others that are not listed there too. You're probably right that GVO only buys it's bulbs from Ednies. I don't know, it's all too confusing for me.

As far as a business trashing a business, that isn't the case at all. I did place a large order, but only because I ordered a lot of varieties. The biggest quantity I ordered of any bulb was 25, it wasn't like I was ordering thousands to resell. They sell Callas in sets of 10, 25, or 100 bulbs. Since I ordered as soon as their site opened for spring bulbs sales, I expected to be at the top of the list for availability. My beef is that it would have been nice to notify me they didn't have the bulbs available. Every other company I've bought bulbs from, and I've bought from most of the companies out there, let you know if they are sold out. Oh, and I can deal with them being sold out (although I'm not happy about it), but I don't expect to be charged for bulbs I don't get- would you?

As far as being a business, there are businesses and there are businesses! Yes, I do sell some of my bulbs, but I am mainly just a gardener. I can say pretty confidently I have the largest or one of the largest collections of Calla Lilies in the country. They are my hobby and my passion.. All of the bulbs I bought were for me and my collection, although some extras will hopefully be sold. I'm a real high tech company, all right, I'm a retired woman who plants and digs her own bulbs and moves every one of her pots and plants by herself. It's a lot of work but I love it, and I spend much, much, much, much more on plants and bulbs and stuff than I ever make, Oh, if you only knew!

I had never heard of Ednies until a friend told me she bought her Dahlias from them. Then I looked them up here and realized they also sold callas and made a note to buy from them in 2009. I'm glad you feel strongly about them.

I'm sorry if I broke the rules of this forum, I will be whacking myself on the back with a stick as I leave!

Susan,

No whacks.

As long as you clarified it was not Ednie you bought directly from, I am very pleased. I have dealt with this excellent company for so many years, I just wanted to defend them. The other companies apparently just buy from Ednie, and use Ednies pictures on their website.

I understand your frustration, and I hope you can work it out with Garden Value Outlet.

I don't know if you broke any rules, but I do think as business owners, it is not right for us to criticize any business on the forum. If only for the fact it looks like we are promoting ourselves while putting other businesses down.

Good luck with your business. No hard feelings here.

Does ednie's have their own website? I would prefer to go directly to them in the future instead of through the other.

Dandridge, TN(Zone 6a)

Yes, they do.. http://www.ednieflowerbulb.com/
Their prices are cheaper, too I think. I remember looking at the prices and mentally kicking myself for not finding them earlier.

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

I just wanted to bring this back to say I got my order from Garden Value Outlet today and it was all there and in good order. It was all Ednie's bulbs and now that I can get their wholesale price I will go directly to them. Anyway it all ended well for me. I appreciate this information. Happy Gardening. Joann
