I ordered this today. My sunroom baker's racks are full. I will add this to our office. I love the look of wood, but I like the dark brown color and there are no gorgeous wood shelves to buy with everything spaced for lights. This is large and will work great. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/Sally11/wonder-carts-category.jpg

I ordered a big violet shelving unit from IGS!
Nice!!!
I *Really* like the looks of that!! Sure puts my Walmart Specials all to shame...
Very nice!! Once you get it set up, we'll be expecting some great pictures.
Don't worry! I can't wait to let my plants spread out a bit. The standards will love it. I will take pictures. I will get it in a week or so I think.
real beauty

What is the website you ordered it from? I am also trying to come to a decision at to what lighted plant stand to buy.
That's a very nice professional lighted plant stand! I had a chance of buying a used one that size, lights, trays and all for $100 bucks last year and missed out. The President of our local AV club heard of someone in Gainesville selling one that she didn't need anymore. Someone else beat me to it! They said it was like new ... even though used, you would never have known it. :(
LOL Nancy, all of mine are the black metal ones from Wal-Mart too, with the exception of one baker's rack.
Wow- That should be real handy! You'll have SO much fun filling those shelves!
Look forward to seeing all your lovely plants when you have it all set up!
You are making me jealous..............the nicest part aabout this set is that the flourescent lighting is spaced apart rather than together like we all have. Also, everything is adjustable..........lights up and down, etc.
But I thought long and hard and decided that i could have 4 gro light stands from Lowes for the cost of one of these. The one you are getting is the best of the best.
I noticed in Boerne at Ken's African Violet Nursery that all his lights are about 12" apart as opposed to 3" in the shop lights.
Hi Gessiegal
I must say the plant stand she is getting is really a beauty. However about 15 years ago i also had a plant stand similar to the one she is buying, back then it still cost big bucks. Anyway during the years that passed i got rid of it & the plants as i had moved out of state & bought a flower shop, but i must say my plants did not grow any better than the shop lights i have now.I think the stands are used more for looks & of course they still do the trick of growing plants nicely.Just my thoughts

VERY nice stand!
Love the fact that it's on wheels. That will make it SO easy to get to your plants in the back and also great for pulling out on "clean up day".
Can't wait to see it when you get it all set up!
Congratulations!
Kim
Kim, you can easily buy the rollers at Lowes...............that is what I did.............
OOOOH really Gail? I will have to look for them :)
I think that will even "lift" my stand a little and expose more of them to light :)
You are always full of insight my friend :) I dig that about you :)
Kimber
Thank you Gail! I had never even thought of putting those casters on my plant stands! I'm heading to Wal-Mart here shortly and just put them on my list! It sure will make it easier to move them to clean behind ... and I have one right under a window that the cats like to be in. One kitty insists on reaching out from the window ledge and "tasting" leaves on some of my plants ... arrrgh! So, with the casters, I can easily roll the stand away from her reach when she's in that window!
Gail you come up with some of the most ingenious ideas! That sure would make moving them alot easier.Putting them on my must find list for this weekend.
Those are great Gail. I will have to look at Lowe's the next time I'm there :)
GREAT idea :)
Me
Yes, the looks are really important. I want them to look as good as possible like all other furniture. The size, spacing, lights are great too of course. I still wish they were made like real furniture.
Sally, we will know you are a real grower when you never even give a thought to the stand and what it looks like (LOL)........my house was decorated to the 9th until I discovered the gesneriads. Now my kids fight for the only bedroom without gro light stands when they come to visit!
The baby even has a crib in my office which holds 4 big gro light metal stands. She loves this room and feels so cozy in it and she is only 2 years old. When it is time for her to take her nap, I run in and turn all the gro light stands off and pull the blind down for her.
When I was young like Sally I would have wanted something "perfect" that would fit more in tune with my decor too! Now that I've gotten old, it's just plants sitting here, there and anywhere, LOL. I keep saying I'm going to de-clutter and down size. I would love to have just one room in the house that is an indoor garden, tile floor, wall to wall plants, plants sitting in every window, hanging from the ceiling, climbing up trellises along the walls ... a water fall in one corner, and maybe a little space for a chair so I could sit and just "be" in my own personal indoor garden! LOL.
I am definantly a grower! Not just violets, lots of plants and flowers outside. Just want the shelves to go with the house. :) Nothing is perfect of course, I just like it pretty.
I like being called young, ha. I'm 48! I think everyone is young if you feel like it. My g.mother has been gone for two years, but she was SO very young at 93. She is my inspiration for many things, her home and garden were wonderful.
Gail, I hear your house is very nice!!!
You are 4 years younger than my baby sister! I was 12 when you were born! But, I agree ... age is just a number! Some days I feel like 60, other days I feel 30 ... and then there are days when I feel about 90!
My Dear Mother In Law has been gone 3 1/2 years - she lived to 97, never took so much as an aspirin until she turned 90,was still driving at 90 and mowing almost an acre of lawn on her riding mower, planting beautiful flowers and tending her citrus trees! She was an inspiration to me. My own Dear Mom has been gone 3 years last month. She had many health problems and lived to be 78. Even though she did not garden she enjoyed the beauty of flowers and always enjoyed all of my plants. My own Mom was an Inspiration to me too ... in so many ways.
I don't even want to THINK about losing my mom. I am sorry your mom and g.mom are gone. My mom is so pretty and SOOOO ACTIVE! She is a retired Jr. High teacher and now works hard DIGGING and working in archeology digs. My dad is very busy too with various things. They have a huge, beautiful back yard land do many things for their city.
It is wonderful to have people to inspire us.
