I had no idea, but I guess I should have known, that the www has up to the minute reports - what a great deal! LOL

I'm pretty sure y'all were aware of these already, but I think this is so neat :~)
Butterfly and Hummingbird Sightings
I'm so excited...gonna book mark those!!
:o) I post my sightings there whenever I see a butterfly or moth that isn't abundant or common here. NABA will also provide a photo link if you send in a photo.
Glassberg was here the last week of February and provided a great count for our local NABA park.

Getting my feeders ready!
I usually get hummers the first week of April, but always put feeders out around the 15th of March just in case.
Getting ready for a big hummer season!
HI Melody! ~~~~ Waving from Florida ~~~~
It's so good to see ya posting! I hope those ankles of yours are healing up just fine!
My little hummer is still here! Whoo Hoo!!! It is definitely a female bird. I saw a male a couple of times, but none lately. I am waiting to see if this hummer stays or migrates north. I'll be sad to see it go if it does. But I will tell it to stop at your house on the way to Canada or wherever it is going! LOL!
I was outside about an hour ago. A friend had come by and we were sitting on my back patio talking and enjoying the cool afternoon - it was 65 degrees. A little hummie zipped out from the trees to the feeder for some nectar then back to the trees. My friend couldn't believe I had hummies in my yard :o)
Melody you are so right...it's time to start getting out the other feeders. I have just kept one out for the few hummies that never left my yard. In a few weeks' time there should be hordes of them squeaking and fighting like old times!
Here's one of last year's visitors.

Cat - Inquring minds want to know how you got one to land on your finger!!!!!! That's so cool!
I found it just standing there on my back porch and was able to pick it up :o)
Am thinking it must've gotten dazed by either getting into a fight with another hummie or it hit my glass patio doors. My glass doors have security bars on them as well as various decals...but there's no telling how it ended up on my porch or how long it was there before I noticed it.
I fed it nectar on and off for about 15 minutes before I set it on the duranta bush so it could fly away.
I've had others come perch on my hand and other fly in place when I'm holding a feeder - but never could get a photo of that. My arm got real tired holding it up with a feeder!!! Will have to try for photos in a couple months' time when the hordes of hummies show up again :o)
Either way, it makes for a nice photo ey?!!!

Yea! I just saw a hummer outside! Come to think of it, they do often show up while the Carolina Jessamine is still flowering. It's still got some blooms, but most are gone.
