Morning Shade/Afternoon Sun

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

A lot of plants I come across say they want morning light and afternoon shade. What about the other side of the house? Is there any plants that like morning Shade and afternoon Sun?

Since you live in a pretty hot climate, I'd go for plants that like full or almost full sun there. Usually anything that says it wants part shade won't do well when the sun it gets is in the heat of the day. There might be a few that'll get leggy or not bloom as well if you don't get enough total hours of sun, but in a hot climate full sun plants are the only ones that will be able to take the hot PM sun.

I have a shrub rose, Rosa multabilis, and a Mexican Sage, Salvia leucantha, that are growing very well on the west side of the house.

shadow, I've found that here, most tropicals do pretty well with afternoon sun and morning shade. Colocasias and Xanths do well as do costus, cannas, hibiscus, musas, etc
Hedychiums are one plant that definitely seem to favor morning sun, and several plants with variegated leaves, like elepaio, I plan to put in a morning sun/afternoon shady spot to see if the white portions of the leaves don't burn as badly

Thanks, I have a good spot and I love Tropicals so I need to play around and see what works.
