Sunday Mail?

Lincolnville, ME(Zone 5a)

How about that...USPS called me today, SUNDAY, to advise my chix were in. Just when you think you have things figured out, they go and do something nice.. Chix (50 mostly standard Wyandottes) all in great shape, hatched yesterday, McMurrays must have felt bad about killing my last 40 three weeks ago. LOL...Scott

Scott... what is it your doing again?? an omelette for how many?? ;-)

I'm sure McMurreys does feel bad--but I didn't realize the post office would call on Sunday either. They did jump to it when they finally found my Meyers chicks, however.

Okay, Scott--we need a tally. How many do you have now and of what? I am so jealous--here I have perfect weather and Spring already sprung and all I can do is sit on my hands to control ordering a tenth of what I want. How many chickens can free range on a quarter acre do you think?

The PO called me on a mail holiday, I was in shock! I didn't even know they were working on mail holidays. Kinda defeats the purpose of a mail holiday if they have to go in and work!

That's a lot of chickies! All your chicks from McMurray died before? Was it a shipping issue or what?

4X - I ordered chix a bit too early, my bad, and they arrived dead. However, at the P.O. yesterday, the kid that gave me my chix, said he remembered those chix and quoted " too bad they left them on the loading dock when it was that cold out". Ah-Ha - gotcha, the chix may have been fine but the P.O. killed them. There's one more reason I hate the Gov't.
Cat - Tally is 16 Seramas (4 more in the hatcher due today), 10 barred Rocks and Buff Orp's for my dear sister that lives next door, 35 Wyandotte standards in W, SL, GL, BLR, and SP, and 5 white rocks (subs for 4 WW pullets that didn't come). There are 60 more coming in Gold-Laced, Black, Buff, Blue, Columbian, and Partridge, all Wyandotte. Total should be 126, plus there are 42 in the bator, and 48 more eggies coming. That should do it, quite a few are already sold to friends, and I'll eat what I don't keep for layers or breeders (well, not the seramas, of course)

Silkie, I got way lucky on the weather this weekend - those poor babies made it all across the country in that snowstorm!
