Snow and string algae. My algae puller is frozen in the ice and even if it wasn' I could never get it all out. So I need to use an algaecide.

Has anyone used Koi Clay?

I haven't heard rave reviews about koi clay, and I don't think it's going to get rid of your string algae. I am having my first go at using hydrogen peroxide, we had a lot of algae grow over the winter when the fish weren't eating it. Here is a link to a thread with great info on how much and how to use... http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/511567/

Also, if you search the water garden forum for "hydrogen peroxide" in the title of posts, you will find several very informative threads. Good luck!

An update for you... the hydrogen peroxide (that I put in yesterday) is working very, very well. Total cost to treat our 16,000 gallon pond: about $16.00. I've used the commercial algae treatments, which cost about $40 to treat our pond, and this is working better! Good luck!

Thanks I'll give it a try.
