The feed and seed store had baby chicks!!!
But since I have already ordered some and am waiting for them to get here, I got some out of the assorted Bantam bin. I didnt order any Bantams, and was thinking about putting in another order.
I have no idea what breed they are, but they are sooooo cute!!!!
I just couldnt resist !!!!!!
I have been trying to figure out what the breeds are, so far I think I have one figured out as an
OEG bantam
Starting with Bantams
Did you see the light yellow one in the middle up there?
she is a crested of some sort, she has a small boof on the top of her head.
Does anyone know who these babys are?
Calling all the chicken pros out there!!!!!!!!!
i am clueless, except that they are beautiful!
i got six asstd bantams from the feed store, & don't know what miNe are either...
Oh but aint they fun!!!!
Ok, I read somewhere that the sultans have an extra toe, so I had to go look and the one I said had a poof on top does have the extra toe, Its a sultan bantam
The pic of the chick with the brown face and black body looks like a Quail Antwerp. They are VERY friendly little birds!
I just looked it up in the MM catalog since you said that
I hope so, It is very pretty.
I keep thnking I need to go back to the feed and seed and get a few more. Hahaha
If you go back for more, ask where they get them from so you can look at that hatchery and see what the assortment consists of.
I love bantams and you picked a beautiful mix. I hope you add pics on here as they grow :)
I might call them to ask where they got them from, Im afraid to go get more,
I have 31 coming on the 17th. Im gonna have so many....
25 brown egg layer pullets and 6 standard sultans
Oh yeah, I will add pics as they grow up, I think its so exciting to see what they turn into.
they seldom ever look like what they grow into.
i think they double in size every week!
I think so too. Mine that hatched last mon and tues had feathers growing in by friday when the last one hatched.
I really need to buy a small farm!!!!!!!!
OK, well, Mom came over and said we have to go get some more tomorrow, She wants some. She wont get bantams, she will get the kind you put in the freezer, so Im sure if I go in there, I will not come out without some more. LOL
I will post some pics of what I get tomorrow afternoon. hahahaha
Maby DH wont notice.
get some different ones!
i may get some more when i go Tuesday...
I am staying away from TSC tomorrow. But then, they don't have theirs in yet. Not till April 13. (I called today and asked).
LOL...the fever :)
Of course. Did you think otherwise? But I am going to be a good girl and not buy any new chicks. At least, not right now...LOL
You mean, not till April 13th anyway, right? hahaha
Im gonna get as many different ones I think I can get away with DH not noticing. LOL
Ill just tell him ~ Oh look, those eggs already hatched!! only been in the bator for 2 days, Hummmm. Musta been ready.... Yeah, I just put some more eggs in there!!!
Actually, I probably won't be getting any then. TSC is 35 miles away from here and we have to have an excuse to go there. Of course the elevator where we buy some of our feed is also there, so I might have to go down there and get some feed of some kind...LOL
I am going to wait until TSC is ready to reduce the price of the chicks to get my best deal. I don't know if the mill will have live chicks, but will find out today as I have an eye doctor appt. this morning, and have to pick up straw and hay. My girls are spoiled...they won't use straw or pine shavings for nesting material. They kick that stuff out of the boxes. THEY WANT HAY!!! So, I have to get them hay. After all, what's a mommy to do.
They are all so cute. You have some feather footed varieties too.
We had a yellow bantam with a plume on the head. It turned out to be a white polish bantam. Your yellow one looks like it has feathered feet though, ours did not. I don't think polish have feathered feet but cochins do and have a white variety. Try looking on the Cackle hatchery site. They have pics of the full grown bantams along with pics of them at a day old. Maybe you can compare and get an idea of what you have.

Too cute! I love the pictures. It'll be fun watching them grow and see how they turn out.
Granny_goody, love how spoiled your girls are!
Mom and I went back to the f&s and ended up getting 15 more!!!!!
I had 10 so now I have 25 !! What am I gonna do with that many Bantams?
We just couldnt resist. Mom kept saying "Oh look at this one!" and putting em in the box!
They said they got them from (C M Estes) Thats what I read on the boxes under the brooders too. I looked them up online, and it says all of their bantams come assorted and strait run and consist of
Black, Buff, and partridge cochins
B.B.red old english
frizzle
golden seabright
mille fleur
porcelain D'uccle
silver seabright
Black, white, and blue silkies
white black tail Japs
So when I was guessing about the sultan, I was wrong!!
But I think this a great assortment!!
If they don't carry Quail Antwerp then the little chick with the brown face and black body is a Mille Fleur : )
Well, we did go to the mill today. They won't be getting stock chicks. (They can order them for me, but I can order them myself.) So, I am going to wait until TSC gets theirs in, and then after a couple of weeks, will see if they have any they want to get rid of cheap. Otherwise, I will just try to hatch out some myself.
Of course, I might be lucky again and have people that get chicks and decide they don't want them give them to me. That's what happened 3 years ago and we ended up with a whole bunch. But, we shall see.
That was a real bargain granny!!!
Well I have 24, The teenyest one just didnt have the strength.
There is another one that is teeny too but she is up running around keeping op with the biggest ones, which isnt very big
Look at this one. It is solid white, her feathers are comeing out white too. I love her!!!
