This just back from them. Do we want to pick one of these dates and go on our own? If we make an appt to go on our own, it'll be $5 per person, which is okay with me. Of the open dates below, I can only go on May 31 or August 16. It might be nice to go on our own so we have the place to ourselves.
With tropical plants, is later in the summer better than earlier to see the most stuff at its best?
Sundays are always best for me.
Gwen
_______________________________
We don't really open the garden to visitors until mid May... this is a tropical garden and there is nothing to see in April.
Below are our Open houses.... if you want to come on a day other than these you need to make an appointment and we charge $5 a person for garden groups.
THE LITTLE AND LEWIS 2008 SEASON
The Little and Lewis 2008 season will be their last at the present internationally known location. The garden/gallery is over 16 years old and George and David feel it is time to create “something new”. They are designing a smaller garden/gallery at a new Bainbridge Island location. They will continue to take commissions for sculptures, mirrors and paintings for clients and galleries as well as to consult on garden design. They also plan to expand the sales of their work from their home and gallery in San Miguel de Allende, a vibrant colonial hillside town in Mexico.
2008 GARDEN/GALLERY OPEN DAYS
On these special days the garden can be visited from 9 am to 2 pm without an appointment. The following dates are timed so that the garden will be at its seasonal best:
SATURDAY MAY 31
SATURDAY JUNE 21
SATURDAY JULY 12
SUNDAY JULY 13
SATURDAY JULY 26 (GARDEN CONSERVANCY $5 ADMISSION)
SATURDAY AUGUST 16
For clients wishing to purchase or commission sculpture, appointments can be made Thursday through Sunday.
Little and Lewis trip
Gwen. what do you think would be the best time to be there? I have never been there. August?
I have live here 20yrs and never seen it or Hersonswood, what a sad child am I, so sad.
but I realy never hear of them until DG.
Don't worry tills I'm From Bainbridge and kept our baot in the water right by Blodels and never have been there. I think Heronswood might open up again for the garden conservancy again this summer. Debbie T might know.
I went on an open garden day and it was crowded. An entire busload of people came all at once, and the garden is not that big. It's an 'intimate' garden, but that was a bit too much intimacy for me. It would be nice to go on a day when it would not be crowded. I think something in July would be best. Everything will be up and blooming by then.
I think $5 is reasonable for a visit. I definitely would rather not be part of a crowd. Too much for me.
Must be nice to have a "home and gallery in San Miguel de Allende". Really, I have done this all wrong . . .
I'm with Pixy and Katie, let's do a PNW DG tour and not an open day. I'm willing to pay $5. July sounds good to me. Rachel
Could I go too ?
Balvenie absolutely! It would be great to meet you!
Robert, we could go together if you like?
Whats the date?
Mary, Gwen's asking us what date would be good for us and whether we'd like one of the dates she listed in her first post or a different date.
Gwen, I'm also for a day in July (don't think I mentioned that before) - that way we'll see their tropicals at their best.
K
Okay July or August will work for me.
July is good for me, too :) I like the idea of a private tour for us as well.
So if we do a private tour, would it be on the same date as an open day, just at a different time, or would we be able to reserve a different date?
I think July 12th and 13th is Bainbridge in Bloom when the usually open up any ways. So it might be a little busy.I will check when the bloom is. If you want you could go on the bloom there is 6 gardens and I sell plants at the bloom then you could also see L and L. Thant is a pretty full day. Cool Heidi
I will work on getting us our own date then. I'll post back with some choices after I talk with them. Am I wrong to assume that since most of this garden is tropicals, that the later in the summer the better?
Gwen
The later the better. I would go privately. You will all have a great time and if you want to come out here later I would love to see you all again. Heidi
I was there at the Bainbridge in Bloom last year. It was a zoo. Just a few seconds to talk to the guys. I would recommend a private date. Since the garden is small, talking to them is half the fun

.
I have high hopes of being able to attend this one!
I'm leaving this to you all, make the date and I'll see what I can do.
