I am desperate for patchouli seeds, pogostemon cablin! Check my Tradlist please to see if I have anything you may be interested in. Sorry, not too many herbs yet.
Thank-you!
Patchouli seeds anyone?
I know you said seeds, but you can purchase the plant here: http://rosesandherbs.com/ for $2.50. I've purchased from this company several times and have always received healthy plants. Also, the herbs they sell are grown organically. I hope you find what you are looking for :)
I have just brought a plant, will let you know when or if it sets seeds if you are still chasing:)
Hi there annette68! That would be great. I can't wait, lol! I went to Richter's Herbs in Ontario, Canada in November to buy seeds, but they don't carry them any more. I bought a spindly little plant for my friend and brought back a few cuttings, but they didn't root. I really love that plant and want to start growing it again, here in Costa Rica.
Thanks so much for your D-mail! Enjoy your plant.
Keith
Keith, I may order one of the plants. If they produce seeds I can send you some. Does anyone know if the plant itself is fragrant? Thanks, Jennifer
Hmmmm, I seem to be a little screwed up at the moment. I thought I was answering a D-mail but I was replying to my thread, lol!
Hi Jennifer! Yes, the entire plant is fragrant, mmmmm. It's not a great-looking plant and the flowers are nothing to write home about, but it's that fragrance! It would be hardy in your garden outside I think, although not positive it it really requires milder Winters. Come to think of it, I don't think it's "frost hardy" so might be killed by frost. You, ve probably checked that out already anyway.
Yeah, but for $2.50 I may try it.
Yes sometimes it is so much easier with seeds especially when they germinate.I love herbs especially anything in the lamiaceae family, I am building quite an eclectic collection because the flowers appeal to me.I have quite a few different flavoured basils, cinnamon, lemon, licquorice, lime, holy basil and they are so different, dont know if I would use the licquorice or cinnomon flavoured leaves as they knock you out.I will let you know when I have seeds of the patchouli.
I have a salvia that comes from Costa Rica and I use to have a scutellaria costaricana which I dont have anymore, if you ever come across seeds of this one lmk and of any of your native salvias please.
Annette from the Tropics in Queensland, Australia.........
Well it should suit my climate as I am in a frost free zone.........Hopefully will set a ton of seeds.
Sure Annette, but first I'll have to research them a bit because I don't know much about the indigenous salvias or other plants in the lamiaceae family. Once I know what I'm looking for, I'll keep my eyes open for them. I'm always coming home with seeds and cuttings etc. so as soon as I see the seeds you want, they'll be in my pockets! I did just snatch some seeds from some valerianoides a week ago so if you want, I can send you some. I walked past someone's garden and saw them hanging out over the bars over the sidewalk. I got seeds from the dark blue/violet coloured one as well as a lovely pink one I had not seen before. Needless to say, they are already planted and I'm hoping they germinate.
What is valerianoides????
