BIG POTATO AT THE END OF THE MARGUERITA VINE...

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

It's about 3" in circumference, and the same color as a litte red new potato. Is it edible? What kind of potato is it? If you say, "yes," I'm gonna cook it. Then, I'm gonna grow potatoes out back!

When in doubt , don't. I have no idea what you mean by Marguerita vine, but I don't recognise the name as an ornamental Sweet Potato cultivar. Even so it is the wrong time of year for those anyhow,

Ornamental sweet potatoes are edible. However they were developed as an ornamental, quality as table fare may be very poor. Timing still has me, Frost free Zone?

They form every year when I grow my Margarita Sweet Potato vines. I have tried to dig them up and save them and replant them, but I could never get them to overwinter. Never thought about being able to eat them or not. Almost all of mine grow a tuber. Some can get really big.
