Wanted: aristolochia baetica

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

tell me what you want and i'll do my best to find it. thanks. barb

I have just 6 seeds of Aristolochia baetica. If you want I would trade these for a few of your Odontonema strictum Firespike. Let me know.

beebe54, i messed up most of my trade pages. i don't have seeds of hardly anything, only plants. i thought i would fix it all this winter but have been too busy with too many other things to even think about it. but...i would be happy to root some of the firespike for you. the red one i have is dormant right now. it is only marginally hardy here and it seems to get smaller every year. but if it comes back i will happily root one for you. i do have what was told to me was purple firespike that i kept in the house and is doing fine. i could send that one now if i can separate the plant or at least in a few weeks as they root fast. but i understand that there are a couple of "purple" shades on this plant and since i have never seen it bloom i can't say for sure what color it is. it was a trade plant i received last year from a reputable trader but that's all i can say.

where did you get these aristolochia seeds? i had gotten some a little over a year ago and they seem to have cracked or maybe they tried to germinate in the seed pack. i soaked them and sowed them today but i don't think they are viable. do you grow this plant outside?

I got my seeds from ebay last fall, from someone that I have gotten seeds from before. I just sowed mine inside last week and all I have left are the six seeds. It has not germinated yet, but the seeds are not broken so I guess they are OK. I know the firespike is not hardy here, but wanted to grow it in a large pot for my hummingbirds, can bring it inside for the winter that way. I know the red firespike is good for hummingbirds, don't know anything about purple. D-mail me your address and I will send you the six seeds for you to try and you can send a cutting of the red if it comes back, I will pay you back the additional postage that it takes to send a cutting vs seeds.

ooooooooooooh, nancy. i haaaate owing someone. i'll do it if you promise to put my name somewhere and write me back sometime in june as i don't trust my name on the wall system all of the time. i live with 3 dogs and 2 kids and my things are never in the same place two times in a row. and when i get this plant rooted i can send it first class so the postage would only be a small amt. more so don't worry about that. i would like your seeds though. did you get any germination instructions specific to this seed? and please lmk when you get plants.

i'm in the exchange. are you?

How about we do this. I will go ahead and plant the 6 seeds, if they germinate we can go ahead and do a plant trade later in the year. I will put you on my list and will contact you when I know for sure if they are going to work out.
