I am completely in love with this clematis..and I have a question for all of you who have it..
I am in either zone 5 or 6 depending on who you go by (the new "updated" maps list me as 6, older one as 5) and I really want to try it..
where are you, where is yours located, and how is it doing? I know I am probably pushing it's cold tolerance, and if I do decide to try it, I will need some tips on how to over-winter it..
Thanks!

Who has "Mayleen"?
A-
I too am in zone 5b on the old maps and 6 on the new ones and all I know is today is absolutely frigid!
I planted Montana Mayleen 2 years ago. I planted her on my house, going around my back door. I thought by planting her on the house that she would do better than if she were planted out in the yard somewhere.
Last year, I did let her get a couple of flowers, just to see and then cut her back severely to promote root growth. I do remember some pretty bitterly cold days the winter before last and she did survive, so it should be interesting to see what happens this year.
What I was thinking when I bought her was that it would be an experiment and that I had nothing to lose other than the cost of the plant. I fell in love with her too - I love the dogwood shaped flowers.
Good luck to you.
Carolyn
Thanks Carolyn..you have given me hope..she's on my list !
I think I am putting her on the sunny side of our house along the fence..
