What will grow near pond with splashing water on it?

I have a small stock tank pond.. 120 gallon. I want to place some potted plants around the tank and was wondering what will survive the constant gentile splash from my little sprinkler can fountain. the ground around the pond stays wet so the pots will also. Any suggestions? It will receive a lot of sun and heat in the summer.

Thank you for any suggestions.

What a beautiful pic Lhasa! You would be amazed at the variety of plants that will do well with "wet feet". Have you considered things that would normally be bog plants like elephant ears or papyrus? If you like fragrance grow some mint in pots. Almost nothing will kill that stuff! There are some very pretty varigated varieties you could try. Some have fuzzy leaves, some shiny some bright green others chocolate colored.

I love mints and have ordered an elephant ear for the pond.. guess I can plant it in a pot beside the pond. I have to add about 10 to 15 gallons to the pond every day or two due to the splash out that is lost.. I don't mind.. just need to figure out a better way other than dragging the hose the 15 ft over to it every time. It is difficult to find any type of water or bog plants here in the desert.. now cactus.. I can find! LOL... hate those.

Louisiana iris would do great. Also look for horse tail rush.

Parrots feather would be pretty too.

See my article on rain bogs for other sources and information on native plants that would work well for you. http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/634/

Thank you for the suggestions.. now.. to go buy some new koi! I killed mine last night... was putting a "little": water in the pond.. forgot about the hose and hours later came home to very washed out pond and gasping fish.. good old chlorine! The smallest of the fish survived after I ran to Walmart and bought a bottle of dechlorinator but the big ones were too far gone! I really hate myself for that.. was really fond of "Tom" and "Jerry" .. they had grown so much in the year I had them. Feeling very guilty today.

If you are going to have to buy replacement fish my suggestion would be to get shabunkins or fancy goldfish. Mature Koi can be over a foot long which would make your nice pond a little small for them. Goldfish and shabunkins are also very forgiving regarding water quality and I have heard that koi can be somewhat tempermental. I purchased my original goldfish at a bait shop and was able to pick out the ones that I wanted so got some very pretty white, gold/white and gold. Some with beautiful tails and fins. They and their descendants are still doing well several years later with basically no care on my part.

I have thought about that but am limited by what they have at Walmart .... I plan on eventually having a real pond built that will be over 300 gallons sometime in the next year or so.. hopefully. One of the fish I lost was a beautiful gold and white regular feeder goldfish.. it was about 4" long.. was very tiny when I bought it.

It is hard to tell what you are buying at Walmart sometimes.. they get them mixed up.
