Now if this forum had been listed propagation mat I would have been all over it...but as it was I have been surfing around DG for a couple of days without introducing myself...sorry. My name is Dee I live in Portland, Oregon...we like to think of it as a gardener's garden of Eden...so true enough I feel I have died and gone to heaven! Nice to meet you all. Dee

Hi Dee,
I'm sorry I did not see your post before. I remember you welcoming me a couple of weeks ago so thought you were an old hat around here. I've already told you how I want to come to Oregon before I die and see all those Iris and daylilies growing all over the Portland area. My mother bought Iris from several growers there especially Schreiners. I've seen pictures in the catalog of their growing fields and would absolutely love to see it in person. (in this case in plant ) You lucky girl you !
Feel free to give us all the tips you have on growing Iris and daylilies. I also live in zone 8 but in Louisiana. It gets so hot here in the summer that you can't do much gardening during July, August and part of September. Our best month coming is October and November. I do a lot of fall gardening then. Glad to talk to you again. Be careful as this site is addictive . I'm hooked big time.

Hello from the other side of Oregon, the dry side. Gardening is definitely not the same here, I am in zone 5. I get about 10 inches of precipitation a year in a good year. This website is definitely addictive, you will just have to turn off your computer to get anything done! There is no cure, once you check in here it is almost impossible to stay away. You might miss something! Have fun.

Hi Everyone, I just discovered DG and haven't been able to do much else since! I'm really here under false pretenses as far a gardening goes....I'm a "reader" and a "Pointer". I READ about planting, and POINT to the spot I want it...then DH does the actual work...and proceeds to plant it any where he darn well pleases, I might ad. I may hold my own in the cooking section though, or any crafts...except knitting or crocheting. We moved to Southern Arizona (via Virginia and Florida) about a year ago, and have 4 acres of "un-charted" land, other than LOTS of Mesquite and a few nice cactus. I am going to post a request for help with our gourds though. Thanks for having me in! JO
