Xanthosoma bulbs

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

Is there any catalogue source that sells these tropical giants as a well started/established bulb like you can get colocasia and alo bulbs? I am rather hesitant on spending upwards of $20.00 for something "started" in a 4 inch pot through a catalogue. I purchased one like that and it never did take off.

Anna I had great luck with 'Natural Selections Exotics' they send very large plants, well worth the cost. http://store02.prostores.com/servlet/naturalselectionsexotics/StoreFront

there was recently a thread on the aroids forum about acquiring xanthosoma tubers at more ethnic markets

I keep planning to stop by the asian market in town, I love these.

i may have to email Natural selections Exotics and ask just how large the plants are that they send. Thanks for the link..........got some really nice ones there, for sure.

Oh please dont spend money on XANTHOSOMA SAGITTIFOLIUM. I toss these in the trash on a regular basis and could send you some instead of dumping them. They propagate well around here.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

rylaff, I'll be sure to contact you if mine didn't make the winter..lol, that's very nice. I wish they grew here like they did in FL

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Okay, Tropicanna. When the extras start popping up, I wont throw them in the trash.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

rylaff, you apparently aren't the only one that throws xanths out, it seems they really spread fast a bit further south than here. Folks in the upper zones would love them, if you ever wanted to bother with sending boxes for postage or trading, I'm sure you'd get a response.

thanks ;)
