Why popups?

Why do I get all these nasty and otherwise add popups on Yahoo all of a sudden? Every thing else is fine. Half the adds are telling me that I have spyware, malware, and viruses and to down load all these programs. This just started about three weeks ago. HELP!! BEV Thanks all my security programs are working.
