Please tell me what this medium is, where to get it etc. My clivia seeds tend to get fungus, probably because I have been using the paper towel method and keeping them too wet. I'm in San Diego.

I have never had even 1 clivia seed rot. It is rockwool and is great! You get it at any hydroponics store or online.

I just wet the rockwool in a tupperware bowl and then drain it. I use very clean hands and bowl. Then stick a seed in each hole. Put the whole tupperwear bowl in a clear plastic bag and close securely with velcro tape you get at HD. I then put them under lights on my seedling table.

I do not open the bag at all until I am ready to take them out to plant them up - maybe 2 months depending on how fast they grow. I then gently peel all the rockwool away from the roots. Though you can leave it on too.

Good luck!

Thank you. Will do. Sounds so much better than my old approach.

Ok, got rock wool, seeds are germinating with roots an inch below bottom of rock wool and green shoots 1 inch tall in several dozen.
What medium are you going to from there?

Thanks,

I go to 2 inch plastic pots and regular soil that drains fast. I usually bag these too because I am bad at watering them.
