How big does lantana grow? Does it need full sun or part shade? I've seen it at garden centers, but have never bought it because I've never heard of anyone who has had good luck with it.
Great pic!

Well Angie you have been a busy beaver today LOL

OK here is what I have learned about Lantana...and its so important!

treat it like an ex husband...meaning just leave it alone LOL

I found I was watering it way too much and fertilizing is NOT something that needs to be done....so last year I planted one outside my dryer vent and I don't know if it was the humidty or heat from it ( I don't dry clothes in the dryer often LOL I prefer line dried but some things just aren't as comfy on the line :o) anyways...this one Lantana I put there and I kid you not...grew at least 5' wide and just as tall.....this was the multicolored lantana...I find the new gold did not get as large even though it is supposed to get to 5' This year I bought Samantha to add to my collection because she is supposed to get 4-5 feet too and has pale pink in her....Also if you do any container gardening there is a new one called Lucky that is great for containers as it is a smaller variety made for containers...

I normally let the stems die down naturally each fall and leave them standing - I do not cut them back down until February or early March, I cover with pine needles (not leaves they will cause crown rot if you get too much rain) When I cut them back I cut all the way to the ground and new growth appears from the crown.

Another great butterfly attracter is swamp sunflower - it grows to 6', is perinneal and produces oodles of blooms in very late summer to early fall...mine are already up and about 8" tall so I am hoping they really get huge this year

Please let me know if I can answer anything else...I am not an expert...I am a plantaholic...LOL If you ever get to the newberry area let me know, bring a shovel with you and you can take some stuff home if ya like!

Happy Gardening!

Thanks so much. Even though my sister-in-law lives there I only go over like once a month unless I go to lowe's (which I do seem to be doing more often) or my son is playing ball there. I know I will be in the area this Thursday evening for a ball game.
