I am new to this forum. Should probably get more into gingers since fragrant plants are one of my gardening themes. Anyway, I am tentatively listing seeds for trade for my first time, and when I looked around the yard turned out I had stuff that maybe is of interest to folks up North as a novelty. Anyway, Alpinia gets so nuts down here that I have to take a machete to it every now and then, but today I noticed a seed pod for the first time ever. I think we typically just seperate rhizomes for production, so I have no idea how to prepare these seeds in the event that someone may want some. I see from google there is more than one seed in the pod........any other thoughts? Sorry for the stupid question! Thanks, F4F.
Alpinia zerumbet- silly question about seeds
lol..there is no such thing as a stupid question in gardening!!!
Thanks, I appreciate that. I did figure it out- the pod pops right open in perfect thirds and the seeds are very viable and even considered invasive in Hawaii. BTW, I am interested in expanding my ginger collection and I have just posted tropical seeds for trade if anyone is interested. I love the trading thing, and I love the spirit and energy of all the folks here at DG. F4F
