Dragon wing-red seedling

I have a dragon wing red plant that produced a seedling in the pot it is growing in. I am just curious if anyone had a seedling show up from this plant and what kind of plant it might produce since it is a hybrid (isn't it?). the seedling is about three inches high now and getting it's true leaves.

I regret I can't answer your question, but I just bought my first red dragon wing begonia today and I have a question I thought you might could answer. I bought a 4-pk. of young plants. If I plan to put them in pots, how many should I plant in an 8 or 10-inch pot? I followed a link on this site and found some gorgeous photos of this plant and they were very full. Will one plant really grow that much in one season? Should I keep it indoors right now since we still have another month of cold nights here in NW Fla? I would appreciate your input.

I had a three inch plant fill my container in just one season so I would five them some room to grow. I overwinter mine in a sunroom that has gotten down to 38 degrees one winter with no check in growth so unless you get a frost I wouldn't worry about putting them outside. The do really well inside too and keep on blooming.

Thank you! That helps, as I was planning to pot them today. After seeing the photos on the web, I wish I had purchased more of them. I wasn't familiar with the term "overwinter" until I became a regular at DG. So, I guess that means that even though this was sold as an annual, I might get lucky and have this plant next year as well. It's really a beautiful plant. I'll be watching to see if anyone answers your original question. Thanks, again.

One in a pot will quickly fill it out. I treat them as annuals since they are so abundant and affordable. A six pack from last year was $5 and I've heard of others getting them even cheaper.

Here is one plant in a 12 inch pot.

oh you are lucky! They aren't that cheap or abundant here. Mine will be on it's third season and I start more from cuttings since they root easily.

That's a gorgeous photo! I can't wait to see if I can help my little plants become even half that beautiful. I would have put all four in a 10-inch hanging basket if I had not asked for advice. I ony paid 1.95 for the four pack. I WILL be buying some more. I'm afraid it will get too much sun on my east deck this summer. There is no shade there until late afternoon in summer. Would one of them do well indoors in a well-lighted area?

mine do well indoors even in dimmer light. The flowers tend to turn pink in lower light though.
