I'm *supposed* to be heading North to CT right now and am wondering how the conditions are to the North. Any updates would be greatly appreciated!
The conditions seem fine down here (much ado about nothing?).
I-95 travel conditions in NJ / NY / CT???
Looking out my window in Windsor, (just north of Hartford) we've got about 4 inches on the ground and the snow is just starting to stick on the roads. The snow is coming down steadily in fine flakes. The main highways may not be too bad- but I'm staying home, hoping to go to the Flower Show tomorrow or Sunday. They're predicting a "wintry mix" for later tonight, into tomorrow am, which could be icky. And icy!
We're definitely got "something" going on here weather wise!
If your driving MD to CT you will be following the storm as it is heading North..towards me! LOL
Go to the Yahoo weather page and punch in the zip codes for where your headed...should tell you what it's like now and when it will end.
Oh, believe me, Pixie, I've been all over Traffic.com, weather.com, AAA, etc. It appears that we probably would have been fine to travel today, but there's still some question as to whether there really is an ice problem North of here. All the maps are showing "pink" (ice), but traffic.com is showing virtually no delays along 95, so I figured I'd check with "real people" - LOL - to find out what's really going on up there.

Roads clear here but the snow is just at the point of turning into sleet or rain. Freezing rain predicted for tonight. I'm right off 95 on the main road into town. Fewer than normal emergency vehicles passing by today. People must be staying home.
Yeah, everything closed!
i dug out my car and moved it so the landlord could plow, that's as much driving as i plan to do.
Hmmm ... we've decided to hold off our start until the morning. I bet that we would have been fine if we'd left this morning. Bummer.
Where are you headed?
About 40 minutes-ish East of you -- East Lyme area.
Pretty area. Watch out for the ticks, though!
I will resist all urges to roll in tall grass, I promise ... I've had Lyme disease before, btw. Not one of my more pleasant experiences in life, thus far (though it is at least good for quick weight loss, so there's that).
Here in Shelton I'd say we got at least 6-8 inches of snow, perhaps more (I'm really bad at judging things like that). The road outside my house (I didn't venture out in the car today) was surprisingly clear, since they don't usually do a good job here, but later this evening the snow turned to rain and things got really slippery - I fell on my front steps, as a matter of fact. Ouch.
I heard on the national(!!) news that Bridgeport (through which I-95 goes) got 9 to 12 inches of snow. And Bpt is on the coast, which usually gets less snow! And East Lyme is coastline too. I admit I am a snow-driving wimp, but I think you made the right decision to wait. If I recall from another thread, I know you are coming up to get your new puppy :) but all things considered, I do think you made the right call.
Be careful tomorrow!
Thanks, Digger Dee! Yep, we're going up to meet the puppy, but we'll head home empty handed on Sunday as they're still too young. We just want to see them while they're still tiny because they'll be huge in no time, lol.
How did it go, wrightie?? How's the puppy?
Oh ... Victor ... I. Am. So. In. LOVE!

Congrats! What a cutie.
Thank you! We'll be making that trip again in about three weeks or so.
We ended up leaving a day late on Saturday morning and had no travel problems whatsoever.
Another dog?!
LOL - nope. Same dog. He's too young to bring home right now. Last wknd was merely a Meet n Greet. Afterall, puppyhood doesn't last long and this little guy is going to quickly grow up to be in the 150lb range ... It was pretty fantastic to see & play with him at a mere 16 lbs!
Did he give you the paws-up?
Yep - all four!
Great. When do you meet his parents?
ben dare dun dat!
Guess you're good to go! How old does he have to be before you can take him?
8 wks, but we're picking him up at 9.
I've been waiting for over six months, so you might say that I'm *ready* to have him home. We lost our last "pup" in June, so the house has been terribly empty since then.
He soooooooo cute!! What breed is he wrightie? I bet you can't wait to get him home!!
He's a great dane, and yes, you're right!!!
A Great Dane! Best be buying dog food by the semi then! LOL
oh wrightie he's sooooo cute. I need a dog.
Congrats on your new Danebaby! I always wanted a Dane...and a lab in each color and a golden and a flat coat and a GSD again and a Bernie, weel you get the picture. Are you leaving his ears as is? He's such a cutie.
Thanks, Venu. We should be making the trip North in two more weeks, but this time we'll be taking him back home with us.
I'm sure you guys must be counting the days!
It occurred to me the other day (btw, we are childless) that we have been waiting just over NINE MONTHS for this pupster ... counting days ... counting months ... soon to be counting minutes.
Hope there are no funky March storms to get in your way this time.
