will deer eat burgs

The best place sun-wise that I have for brugs is outside of my fenced yard where many deer roam. Does anyone have experience with whether they will leave brugs alone? Thanks,
Annie

I obviously meant to type brugs not burgs, sorry!!

Sorry nobody has answered. We have no problems with deer so can't say, but imagine if they are hungry enough, they would chew on them. Guess you would have to try deer repellent if they are into yours.

AnnieJo,
Hibiscus is correct when she says that deer will try anything if they are hungry enough. Deer have been found with all kinds of weird plant parts in their stomachs. Even deer resistant plants will be eaten if they can't find other things to eat. Repellents, high fences, dogs, small gardens protected by 4 foot fences are things to try. Supposedly, deer won't jump into a confined space where jumping out could be a problem.

We have lots of deer roaming around but they cannot be called hungry. They have food to eat everywhere they look.

They LOVE morning glories and camellias. So far I've not caught them munch on my brugs, though.

I had the garden fence covered with flowering vines last summer. One night they walked down the fence and ate most of them. They didn't like the coral vines or the rangoon creeper, but they gobbled up most of the rest.

They also ate every single leaf off two peach trees.

I've tried tying Bounce strips on the camellias. That works until it rains and the smell gets all washed off.

Anniejo, Nope, the deer do not eat Brugs. I have deer that come right up to the front porch (up steps) to eat stuff. My Brugs are right out there where they roam & they have not touched them for 4 years. (But these are my deer, some deer eat different stuff than others. There are about 50 different ones that filter thru here.) So my Brugs have never even been nibbled on.

Thank you everyone. I had just thought that since they were poisonous that the deer might leave them alone. They mow down everything else that I have. I will watch carefully. Also, is the entire plant poisonous or just seed pods, etc.?

I think the entire plant is poisonous, but so are castorbeans, pointsettas, etc.
