Just noticed among my ugly winter garden, a spot of bright green. The only thing planted there is my garden phlox (david) that I cut to almost nothing in the fall. I looked at images and that is what this is. It's mid February. Will a frost hurt them? If more start doing this do we treat this as the start of of Spring and act accordingly? My phlox and I are confused.

Don't these flowers know what the date is?
Baby phlox, I tried to tell them it's still winter, but they listen as well as my kids.
If they are coming up now they should be fine in your climate. You could put some leaves over them for awhile.
I think they'll be fine. Phlox is pretty season-savvy in our neck of the woods. :-)
