Hi carla I think you are right on 1 and 2 first mystery is veronica sunshine blue. It is a nice clumper with chartruse new growth and blue flowers. Heidi

Oh good! Heidi's here! You also have one of the Tibetan gentians in the last photo. Yes, number two is Arum italicum. I don't know the cultivar. Maybe Heidi will remember.

Check out these links:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_oak This is the one I am thinking of coppicing in order to keep it small, since I love the leaves but don't need another big tree.
http://www.senecahillperennials.com/index.php?page=arum this shows lots of cultivars of that arum , but I don't know if any of them are the right ones.

I don't know which arum that is but the leaves are huge. Much bigger leaves than all the others. It also has really great orange seed heads in the fall and winter. They do spread so plant them appropriatly

Heidi, Thanks so much for sharing with us! I just want to make sure I plant them correctly so they will flourish!

Thanks to both of you for your info...I had a sometimers moment after leaving Pixy's house.

Thanks again,
Carla

I'd like to add my thanks to Heidi as well. I came home with most of the same things that Carla did, except for the oak, and also a Philadelphus delavayi and a beautiful Zelkova. Thank you so much for the wonderful plants!

cocoa, why are your plants in the living room? they go outside. they are plants, not pets. you saw what happened to Katie when she brought them indoors - they have set down roots in the kitchen, grown leaves, and told her they are not moving out. they are now demanding indoor beds like the doggies have! Once you let them indoors they decide they like living near the frig and the tv - they quickly get out of hand. Now out.

ohmigawd, I'm beginning to sound like pixy - next I'll have that rather firm directive stance that Amy demonstrated! Oh well, it'll be an improvement on the swimmer's shoulder - high, squared off, and looking like I have just taken a deep breath (please don't let shoulder pads come back in fashion - oh, forgot we don't do fashion!)

LOL Laurie they were only posing for pictures as they were coming from the garage to the side garden...lol
They thought they were outside with the furpals all around having to sniff each and every newcomer to there home. You would have thought it was envasion of the plant snatchers, each trying to outsniff the other!
You can rest assured they are outside and in there appropriate place, but thanks for the warning, I have more than enough inside plant babies to take care of.

Wait a minute does that mean my inside seed perennials are doomed to live inside? Oh well the more the merrier!

Laurie you always amaze me, Cocoa I have made that mistake, I have one that is going to be weened to the outside. My DH brought it home for Valentines last year or the year before can't remember, and I lost the tag and for the life of me could not think of what it was and has been inside, I just found the tag while going through my plant stuff (what a mess)
Its a Pink Jasmine and it will live here.
This will be its new home. (pink pot)

oh sweet, another pinkie! Outta is going to be quite envious. But may I ask if that has just gone outside straight from the toastie warm of indoors? You might want to give it a little weaning process - say a week in the greenhouse before shoving it into the great outdoors in these temps. Or hey, tough love.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

No it just went for a walk with me so I could show it its new home, and stayed out side for a little while its back in the house.

You are such a good plant mom - how could I have doubted.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Thank you, you are to kind

Laurie, you are coming right along!! Another few months and you will understand completely the consciousness of plants!

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Hooray, then I can be a plant therapist (what a relief - they tend not to have eating disorders!)

True, but they do have trouble with their 'roots'. And many of them keep getting shuffled from one plant family to another.

ROFLOL!!!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Is that kinda like are treads? LSM

Also, some get Seasonal Affective Disorder if they are planted outside of their comfort Zone.

soooooo funny!!!! Thank you all - I woke up this morning wanting to resign from work (except no one would care! So where is the fun of that?!!) - and you and Carole have put the hummmmm back in me (and a day of digging in dirt with a great big delivery of 3 year old manure!) i am again revived!

It's nice to have friends who can be revived by 3 year old manure. So few people would really understand that!

(Everyone here does - makes me feel sooooooooooooooooo normal, in the most extraordinary way).
