Yikes, ya'll! Dave just added P. incarnata to the database, and my first thought was "I can't believe that isn't already in there." So I double checked and sure enough, it wasn't. Not only that, there are only three (counting Dave's) Passiflora entries in the database.
You two (and others, I'm sure) have a ton of information on growing these beautiful plants. Please (please???) take a moment to add a few things (species, varieties, descriptions, growing instructions, photos......) to the database :)
Many thanks in advance.....
KHT, Tim and other Passiflora afficianados!
Terry
Uh Trish added pictures of her P. incarnata to my P. 'Lavender Lady' entry. How do I go about with cultivars, varieties, hybrids and such? I will add a few later this week, a bit busy with work and a project.

Thanks, Tim! Sounds like the snafu is all taken care of? (Thanks, MzM - you've done a yeoman's share of work on the DB this month, and I'm very grateful!)
Trish,
You didn't have to delete it, I thought with your picture in there it should be an example of P. incarnata and can be use for IDing.
Hi , I have just joined in. I garden in Ireland. I grow three Passionflowers in an unheated conservatory ( well a sorta glasshouse:)) These are P.antiquoensis, herbertiana and molissima . I have pics of the first two but the latter has not yet flowered . Not sure if this may be of interest , or indeed where or how to post so must go and do a bit of investigating. Best wishes.
Canna, welcome to Dave's Garden! At the time I'm writing this, the three species you mentioned are not in the database. To add them, find the link to "Plants" in the right-hand column, click on "Add a Plant" and the rest is pretty self-explanatory.
If you need any other help, just holler! (Well, you might be better off posting back here, since shouting across the ocean is probably not the best way to communicate, LOL!)
K'HT, thanks!!!! I knew I could count on ya'll! I don't think the ink was dry on my post before Tim had a slew of Passiflora species entered. :0)
Tim,
I noticed that you posted a picture of P. edulis x incarnata. If you did this cross could you tell us how? TNX.
Chuck, I should clarify. Tim posted a hybrid, and I added the parentage information I was able to find through my research.
Tim, if my information was incorrect or shouldn't be included, please let me know. Thanks for all your contributions - lots of Passiflora species showing up in the database now!

Chuck
Passiflora 'Byron Beauty' is a hybrid (P. incarnata x P. edulis) developed by Dr. R J Knight.
MzM, we could rename him, but Erin might start to wonder........so maybe we should just let him be "Tim" (grin)
Thanks, Tim - I saw all the new entries you put in yesterday - wow!
Terry,
I still have a few more entries, was out last night taking pictures of them for the database.
Go_Vols, Hi , I just posted pics of two Passionflowers to the data base. Hope they are OK. I will edit them later.Have to get used to finding my way around Daves :))
Canna I saw the entries - thanks a bunch! I think you're finding your way around just fine :) If you can fill in any of the other information about these species, you can go back in and edit them to add whatever info you have.
Welcome to Dave's Garden!!!!!
go vols,
You seem to have become master (or mistress ?) of the DB so could you do me a favour. tig and I both posted an entry for passiflora capsularis (she got in first, by an hour or so). One needs to be removed - preferably mine. I have posted a pic of the flower to hers and mine, and about to post another pic of the seed pod (also to hers). I did ask Dave to remove mine (on the Vines forum, I think), but he has not responded - probably too busy with all the other requests. Can you do something about it please.
El Tel
nonono!! I got my babies from you. I've asked also that mine be the entry that comes out. gv, I bet I asked first!!! LOL!
Ok tiG - its the shoot out. I'll add the pic of the seed pod to my entry and GV decides. OK GV make your move - or the cat gets it !!!
Geez, ya'll are wanting me to make the decision????? Well, my suggested solution was that tiG's entry stays, and ElTel adds the photo. But tiG says she can't delete the photo in her entry (tiG, that might have changed since Dave tweaked the photo editing feature in the database.)
To be honest, I can't delete an entry. (I guess Dave must have heard that I run with scissors, or something :)
So I can ask Dave to take one of them out, or one of you can edit your entry to be another Passiflora species (or some other plant entirely.) Let me know what ya'll decide.
eltel, I'll edit mine to be Jeannette, if you can get your pictures out. I can't take your picture out.
tiG,
OK. I assume you'll edit yours with a rename to Jeanette. Is that going to be a new species or do you want me to post a picture of the wife !!!!!
My pics removed from your entry today
OK GV ?

Great, changing mine to hybrid Jeannette. will get pictures when it stops raining, thanks. And if you want to put in a picture of your wife, that's fine:)
Glad we got it sorted (without the need to take it out on the cat !!). I didnt know there was a hybrid called Jeanette (the DW certainly aint one - pure bred she tells me).
Aristolichia litttoralis (aka elegans) on its way today.
Enjoy.
El Tel
Oh yeh - and happy birthday from me too.

Hi Canna
Re P. antioquiensis..I'm afraid the ID on this is wrong. It is far more likely to be P. x exonienis see http://www.passionflow.co.uk/aunty.htm
If it is antio it will have 2 foot long peduncles (stalks) down to the flowers. This misidentification goes back to John Vanderplank's reference book in which the first edition showed exo as antio. Subsequently corrected but many misidentified plants out there. Either way a beautiful plant & flower!
Best wishes
Myles
GV,
You started this thread with a comment about P.incarnata. Could you (or one of the many other passionflower experts advise me. I am creating a passionflower wall (inside the conservatory. P. incarnata (the one I posted a pic of a week or so ago) has got damaged in the move (and aided by a slug I suspect). The main stem has snapped (not completely) at ground level and the foliage is dying off. Will it come again from the base, or do I have to sow more seed (I doubt I could get cuttings from the stems now.
El Tel
El Tel,
Take cuttings from the broken stem, this will help cut off moisture lost, keeping a bit above the snapped section.
Is this plant a new seedling? If it isn't, then there is a good chance that you have tuber roots, which will sprout suckers. If you have a leaf node below the broken section, you will have new growth too.
Thanks Tim, but I fear the worst. The leaves on the broken stem(s) have all but died off, but I will try it if only to prevent moisture loss. It is a new seedling (12 months) so it may not developed enough root to survive. Thanks for the tips.
I currently grow three types of passion flowers: the cerulea, the incense, and a third that is similar to the incense, but does not have the fragrance and is not quite as brilliant and has a small green fruit aboutt the size of a walnut. I bought some passion fruit in the grocery store the other day and dried the seeds and germinated them. The fruit was red and about the size of a tennis ball. Has anyone ever grown this fruit vine? Woody@texramp.net
Tim,
I just found a site giving information regarding a new variety of passiflora.
"...scientists have created a new fruit in a 20 year old research project called "Passion Pops". It is a hybrid of passiflora 'incarnata'X p. 'edulis'. The fruits range in color from yellow to green, dark maroom to purple...fruits are about the size of a tennis ball...benefit is that it wil grow well further north in the US where farms are hit by frost...some US based companies have expressed an interest in the new fruit and juice products may be on the market in the near future..."
Have you tried making this cross Tim? Just wondered.
Joy,
My P. edulis are only seedlings, no flowers. I tried these: P. incarnata x P. edulis flavicarpa, and P. edulis flavicarpa x P. incarnata.
