Victoria to Georgetown

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

Headed on a vacation this weekend to Georgetown. I'm hearing rumors there's a new toll road around Austin... any truth to it? What's the easiest way to get around Austin with a horse trailer??

:) thanks in advance,

Well...I'll attempt to direct you since no one else has jumped in! Assuming you just want to miss downtown Austin/I35? Coming into Austin, take the BenWhite/ 71 East exit. Take 71E to just past the airport. You'll see sign for State Hwy 130, which is the new toll road. That will take you around Austin. Hwy 130 reconnects with I35 just north of Georgetown. The hwy has only been open a few months, so is probably not on any maps yet.

Sandy, I'm glad you knew that. I don't drive in Austin enough to direct anybody. In fact I usually get lost when I go there.:)

'Have to admit...I asked My DH!

Coming into Austin from 183N, right?

That road's definitely not any maps yet... don't even know if my phone gps recognizes it yet...

I assumed you'd be coming in on I35.......Sooooo..coming in on 183N, you'd just turn right onto 71E, drive past the airport, and look for 130....

If the navigator GPS on my phone is any good...it says.

77N to
290W to
130 Toll Road North to
TX 45 Toll West to
I35 N to
135 Business Loop back to I35N to
FM 1460

Sound kosher around town?

71 and 290 run together through part of Austin, so the road could be called either. Taking 45 over to I-35 could put you right back in some heavy traffic. Scroll down on this link to see a visual of the toll roads. If you are coming through Austin at a busy time, it might be worth taking the toll road and driving a few extra miles, especially with the horse trailer. I hope you and Chewie have a great time!

We must boycott ALL toll roads! (~;

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

I don't boycott toll roads in city traffic with a horse trailer. Been in Houston too many times with the trailer behind me, and those busy non-paying highways are crazy. Folks drive around me & cut me off like I'm in a little grocery-getting 40mpg "weed eater engine with a body around it." =)

Looking at the toll roads, and the directions my phone offers up, looks like I should head from 183 to 71E(or 290, whichever it's called) , pick up 130N all the way around, then back S on 35 (then turn my phone GPS back on & let it guide rest of the way).

Again, those of you in the town, anywhere in the Georgetown vacinity that makes an incredible dinner at a decent price?

:) Leaving in the morning, and looking forward to it.

Yes... to directions

Um... what question did that answer?

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

took 130 toll from 290 all the way up to 1431/ Chandler. 1431 to 1460. No problems at all.

Just for grins, on the way, I tried to find myself on the GPS map on my phone. It didn't recognize the road I was on, but instead thought I was in the middle of a pasture. =)

Modern technology isn't always right... :)

Thanks to all for your help. It was worth the $9.00 up, and it will be worth it going back as well.
