I am determined to see some Sand Hill Cranes this year! I saw some photos last summer and decided I just have to see some so I've been doing research ever since. I live near Minneapolis and have come up with a few of places that they are known to be-Crane Meadows near Little Falls, MN, Crex Meadows near Grantsburg Wisc. and Carlos Avery Wildlife Area near Zimmerman, MN. I've written to Crane Meadows for more information about when the cranes normally arrive (April, I think) and when they might be expected to have baby cranes. I've read that the massive fall migration (heading south) is around October. Can anyone think of anything else I need to know? Has anyone been to these places or can you recommend another good place to go? For some reason, I've had trouble finding local information on these guys, so anything will be helpful-
Thanks!
Deb
