I would love to have any extra seeds anyone may have. I can send SASE but have nothing to trade.
We just moved to a house on the Oregon Coast, Tillamook, OR. The yard has very few plants.
I had to leave all my plants, hosta, ect...:::(((
I'm hoping to get back to B'Ham this spring to get some starts from my hosta plants. Who knows.........
Thanks so much!
Karen~
CLOSED: Wanted Seeds for SASE
What are you looking for? Annuals or perennials?
both
I'd like more perennials.
I did plant some tulips. I'm excited to see they are coming up.
I've been told things grow VERY well here at the coast.
Morning glory would be pretty on a trellis on the backside of this shed! Maybe a trellis with some bird houses and morning glory?
I've only had the weed morning glory stuff that I hated! I couldn't keep it off the rest of my plants!
Any tips ?
The back of this shed faces 101. I need to spruce up my curb appeal;o)
Thanks!
Karen~
I'll get you some of the morning glory seeds out in the mail tomorrow to you, then! I'll include some planting instructions for you.
Can you dmail me your new address? The one in the exchange shows you still in Washington.

Karen -- I'll have to check to see what i have left.
this year you should go with annuals and perennials, if you want some color this year. Most perennials will not bloom until their second year.
Here is my Haves List http://davesgarden.com/community/trading/list.php?list=have&member=tcs1366
there may be something that grabs your eye.

Hi are you planning a veggie bed at all?
Yes we are doing veggies & berries.
I'm going over DMIL's to get some Everbearing raspberry plants, strawberries and some herb starts. I do have a blueberrie bush if I get back to WA.
I want to plant as much as I can, we have the space. DH and I were just talking this evening about doing some raised beds. I'd like to do a kitchen garden, herb garden, lots of green beans, onions, tomatoes (EWeed has offered some starts if I get back up there, yeah!) peppers, you know, the works. I want to put up salsa, tomato sauce, tomatoes, pasta sauces, beans....oh just everything:)
I have to get an outside propane cooker and/or hot plate because I have one of those flat top stove tops you aren't suppose to use a canner on or cast iron!! I use my cast iron anyway, just not as much ::((
Love your new place, but you're right -- it needs plants! I'm up to my eyeballs this week getting things together for a DG seed swap & get together on Saturday, but I know I'll have plenty of seeds I can send you. Why don't you go ahead and send me a SASBE with 75 cents in loose postage (or throw in an extra stamp and I'll supply the BE)... We can start Dmailing about what you'd like, and I'll put a nice packet in the mail to you next week after the madness of the swap party is over. I promise there will be seeds left for you! :-)
I've got some basils, tomatoes, peppers, quite a few different annual & perennial flowers (including morning glory mix, scarlet star glory, and Love-in-a-puff -- all would be nice for your shed trellis)... Oh, and if you want to include some extra postage to cover the cost of the seed, I've made up sampler packets of Gypsy (hybrid sweet pepper, 14 seeds) and Bounty (giant banana hybrid, 11 seeds) hybrid pepper seeds that I bought in bulk from TGS... 5 first class stamps gets you both. :-)
Sounds great! Thanks!
I'll plant whatever I get and see how it does. I have tons of space to cover. My ultimate goal would be a cottage garden. We do have the trim painted green and the gutters on the house. I'd love to find canvas awnings (if that's what they are called) for my porches and windows. I think between DH and I we should be able to figure out how to make them for less than purchasing that many.
I think you're right... you should be able to find the fabric (real "Sunbrella" -- or whatever the brand is -- is $$ but does seem to hold up from what people say), and if you can either weld frames or build them from lumber, you're all set... just make sure they're adequately attached/supported where they meet the house. :-)
Dmail me your address please.
You're right, Pam... I never have much luck with bell types, but both Gypsy and Carmen have done really well for me! Carmen is a hybrid bull's horn that out-produces 'Corno di Toro' in my garden by, well I was going to say 10 to 1, but it's at least 5 to 1 and probably better. I've grown a different hybrid banana pepper before ('Bananarama'), but I've heard good things about 'Bounty'.
For sure, she should try 'Gypsy'... and Pam, if you want seeds too, just Dmail me.
Dmail me your address and I will see what I can get together for you.
James
Thanks guys!
I don't know much about the peppers but your right Pamsue about the weather. My MIL & SIL have done well with a large variety peppers, including bell, over in Gaston Oregon.
I'm going to get the book " Coastal gardening in the Pacific Northwest : from Northern California to British Columbia"
Carla Albright who is local.
d mail your adress and ill send you seeds
marjolein
Thanks everyone!
Somer your package went out today! Enjoy!
Thank you sooo much! What do I need to send you?
Karen~
You don't have to send me anything. I have only been a subscriber to DG myself for a couple of months and I already have enough seeds from these people's generosity to make my street club president jealous of my yard for the next 10 years! Just enjoy them and pass it on....as my son says..."That's how we roll here" :)
Thank you so much!
Did you see my list already. If you still need more seeds, I could send them for postage.....
Hi there, I just noticed this thread. I have lots of seeds that would do well near Tillamook. I live near Seattle. Send me an envelope, and I'll send out some really fun stuff - annuals and perennials.
James~
I recieved my package of seeds today!

Karen~
