Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Oh my, those are so pretty, Daisy is a knock out. I could look at these kinds of pictures all day. Thanks

Yuma, AZ

I would have to agree Kaperc, it makes me happy everytime I look at it.
Thanks Robyn

Beautiful, Davie! I just have three or four blooming in the greenhouse. That's a lot less than previous years, but I think the greenhouse got as cold as the outside temps at night. The only difference was the intense heat during the daytime.

I love my Loi Kratong from Thailand:

This white started blooming again. It was blooming in the fall and then stopped for the winter and recently started again.

You know your 'Rainbow Starburst' looks very red for being 'Rainbow Starburst.' It is supposed to be more pink, but I know how colors can intensify in high heat so maybe the red pigment is being brought out. Here's a picture of another 'Rainbow Starburst' for comparison. This picture was taken by a fellow collector named Val.

Your petal shape might be off a little bit too. Here's one last pic for comparison. This pic was taken by Milton Pierson. I had a 'Rainbow Starburst,' but it was one of my Roundup casualties.

Clare, generally there has been a distinction between the Hawaiian variety known as 'Rainbow Starburst' (the red one) and 'Mukundan Rainbow Starburst' which is the one your pictures show.
They are both stunning varieties.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Oh, good, then I know which one I want! Does it have a scent?

They both have nice fragrances although not particularly outstanding, in my experience.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, Hetty. I understand now:-) I didn't realize that there was one being called that from Hawaii.

Yuma, AZ

Clare, Yeah I was wondering about the red myself, but thought it might be "so red from the heat. I did get mine from Hawaii, so what Hetty says makes sense. I have a cutting available if you would like to replace it.
The smell from mine is OK. it has a sweet smell to it, but it is not a strong as others I have. Beautiful anyhow.
Hetty thanks for clarifying the situation. Where does the MRSB come from? Are they both recognized by the PSA?
Davie

MRSB is from India. Neither of them are registered varieties I believe.

OK, I have to get one of those next year.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, Davie. That's nice of you, but I'm good. Mine was the Mukundan one, but it had never bloomed for me and was a slow grower so I probably wouldn't have kept it anyhow. I do have one like yours though that is an unknown, and I love it. I bought it as a 'Bali Palace,' and when it bloomed, it obviously wasn't 'Bali Palace,' but I do like it anyway. It is blooming right now as a matter of fact and has been also winter. It gets really dark red in the greenhouse, red in the summer, and dark pink in the cool spring.

Clare that is interesting about your Mukundan RBSB, because mine is one of my best bloomers. It must like Florida!

Yuma, AZ

Dete, when are you moving in? I can make room. The Aztec Gold looks awesome, and I bet that even though it toook as long as it did, it was worth it.
Clare, it does look similar, but the RSB from Hawaii, fades to an orangeish center, not much pink so far, but I will let you know as soon as I take it out of the GH.
Kaperc, which one must you get next year, one of each? LOL, you got the bug.
Davie

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Aztec Gold - it was the mention of Georgia peaches that cinched it! I've had the bug for years, just no knowledge and some bad luck. Now I have a little greenhouse to save things from the cold in winter, I've gone hog wild. :-)

Yuma, AZ

Kaperc, Yeah thats one on my list to get also. Good to hear your having better luck. What part of NSD are you in? I am one of the Zonies that invade SD every summer, my GF's father has a house there, I spend a lot of time down in S. Mission Beach.
Davie

We are in Bonsall, which is just east of Oceanside. Lots of people in SD don't even know where it is, which is why I changed my location for DG. Lots of folks don't realize how different SD is - east, north, coastal - it's like being in another state sometimes. We get heat most of the time, but last year I lost four plumies that were close to blooming age in January freezing weather. This year I will have some extras just in case! My California Sunrise (or is it Sunset? lol) has swelling buds, so it won't be long when the weather warms up.

Yuma, AZ

this is the RSB as it fades. it has poor keeping quality as you can see. not really impressed with this variety so far, but it just stated to flower so maybe the later flowers will have better quality?

beautiful davie! have you ever talked to luc from fcn? i think you two would have a good time talking. we need a leg of fcn on the west coast. hmmm...yuma would be an awesome site!

Cave Creek, AZ

Davie,
It's still too cold for much action here. I have a few in the train room that have put out a leaf or two. I'm not moving any out this year till I know it will stay warn at night. Last year I had to scramble to put them back inside when a cold spell struck.
I saw you had 80 in Yuma the other day. It's pretty cold here today cloudy and 60 maybe.
Mickey
