No $, Rely on DG's buddies

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

This year I'll be stretching for my gardening flowers and plants. I have about 25 different flowers, some unusal, so I would like to get into the trading I see a lot of you doing on DG. One problem is, this will be only my second year gardening, and I don't know the proper way or place to take a "cutting". Is there some rule of thumb depending on the plant. Or how the flowers grow. Or some basics. If I do end up trading I don't want to give someone they can't use or something that won't grow.
Thanks

I've been looking into propagation myself. Taking cuttings varies with the plant. Some you can root any time of year. Some are more particular. Typically, you want to use a greener part of the branch. Here's some information on hydrangeas.

Hi Vicki
Haven't heard from you in awhile, did you ever figure out the little mounds?
Have you look in to DGs forum on it, I know some plants, but don't know what you have. I know they can help.

Hi All,
Been on vacation and came back to that horrible flu bug. No more mounds, but I am keeping an eye on the area in case some little alien sneaks by me in the middle of the night.

Hope you are feeling better? Where did you go?

I went to the DC area to visit my son, his wife, and two of my grandchildren. Anyone needing or wanting to fly, I looked at different web sites for air fare, with just a 6 day notice, my son paid less than he ever has. $196.00 total round trip from pdx to baltimore (bwi). That, with only 6 day notice is usually 5 to 6 hundred dollars. I think some air war is going on. If you want to fly, now might be the time.
