Hi All,
Can anyone recommend garden/flower shows that are held in Southern New England? I would love to see a greater variety of houseplants, especially the gessies.

Have you been to Logee's greenhouse, right over the Ct.line? They have a few different gessies. Its alillte over a hour away from you.Great place to visit.I get excited just thinking about that place!.LOL
Thanks! I am going to the Providence show this Friday, as a matter of fact. The Boston show is probably just a repeat of that one. I am still very green (pun intented) when it comes to streps and other gessies, so I don't know if I'm comfortable enough yet to join the society...but I will definitely look into it.
As for Logees....I AM ADDICTED TO LOGEES! LOL I can't seem to go there without spending at least two hundred dollars, and I'm running out of room. lol Last time I went, I bought a Party Doll Strep and it's doing ok so far. If I maintain that one I will start adding. I do have a couple of other gessies mixed in that are doing quite well, so I am interested in seeing what I can pick up to add to them. Thanks for the info : )
Oh how I would love to visit Logee's! I get their catalog and can only imagine how beautiful their greenhouses must be in person!
One of these days I'm going to take a camera there and post the pictures for you all!
Logee is a wonderful place! I used to spend hours there.
Another thought deerchaser, If you join the Gessie society you would be able to buy seeds from the huge seed list they have and grow your own.
Yes, I went to their website and poked around a bit. I will probably join. There were a couple of shows listed in New England that looked interesting, so I have them on my adjenda. The frustrating thing is that I have pretty much run out of space in the house, and will have to put some shelving and lighting together. I'm sure you have all gone through this. I'm an interior designer by trade, and I had started collecting plants last summer with the intent of getting rid of the artificial ones that I had decorated with. Well, I was hooked immediately! Now I want to buy plants all the time, and the collection has gotten so large that the plants are no longer there to add to the decor......they ARE the decor! LOL! It really goes against my personality to put them on shelves in a separate area from the main rooms, because I love walking by them as I move about the house and admiring them, but it's either put them on shelves or stop collecting them.
I would love to hear some stories of how you all started collecting. Maybe I won't feel so obsessive! LOL!
Good morning!
Well I can tell you that I didn't have any houseplants alittle over 2 years ago. Then I found this forum and bought 6 AV's from Walmart, pretty soon after that someone was giving away named AV's for postage, then I had over 25 plants and one plantstand.A year later and having a hard time with the AV's another friend introduced my to the other gessies.Love at first site! LoL.I gave away most or the AV's and started growing the other gessies from seeds and great trades.I'm now up to 3 plant stands and could use another.I have plants all over the house too and moved furniture out of a small bedroom (who cares if family has to sleep on the couch when they come for a visit ,its only once a year..I live alone and don't work anymore so I can do anything I like!) and made the the plant room.I love going in there and just playing with the plants. If I still lived close to Logee's I would really be in trouble.
Am I obsessive? You bet and I love it!
Aww I forgot.Theres lots good traders on this forum too. When the temp warm up trading will start.Thats a great way to get different plants too..
Let us know how you make out at the garden show!
Thanks for sharing! I really enjoyed it! There is a threat of a snowstorm on Friday, so I may have to ski to the show, but what the heck! LOL
