February 20/21 - next week.

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

The paper said it's tonight, but my calendar says it's tomorrow. Does that mean it begins tonight and ends in the wee hours? That link wouldn't come up for me.

Here's a quote from that site:
"A total eclipse of the Moon occurs during the night of Wednesday, February 20/21, 2008. The entire event is visible from South America and most of North America (on Feb. 20) as well as Western Europe, Africa, and western Asia (on Feb. 21). During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon's disk can take on a dramatically colorful appearance from bright orange to blood red to dark brown and (rarely) very dark gray."

Now all we need to do is hope there's no cloud cover tonight!

Central, VA(Zone 7b)

On the local news this morning, they said the total eclipse would be visible here in VA at 10:05 PM and over by 12:00 AM. It's so cloudy right now, I doubt we will be able to see it. Too bad.

It's clear here now, but if the eclipse isn't for another 5 hours......well, I'll keep my fingers crossed!

got this off of Yahoo News

Quoting:
Wednesday's total eclipse phase will last nearly an hour. Earth's shadow is expected to blot out the moon beginning around 7 p.m. on the West Coast and 10 p.m. on the East Coast. West Coast skygazers will miss the start of the eclipse because it occurs before the moon rises.

So -- I should get it around 9pm. CST

Oooooooooo -- it's starting... and luckily, for me, it's still in the East, right outside my BR window... so i dont even have to go outside.

I'm watching too!

Pueblo West, CO(Zone 5b)

I just watched the eclipse - so very beautiful. The night here is cold and clear so the sky just sparkled around the moon. My son said he saw a shooting star as he watched. Hope everyone had an excellent view of the lunar eclipse tonight.

Robin,

that is about what mine looked like the last time it went thru... i do recall that was summer though, so i was out on my front porch instead of in front of the window.
