New to the Texas group- hello

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Hi everyone,
I've been a part of DG for a while, but for some bizarre reason never checked into the "Texas" forum, so here I am. From what I've read, this looks like a great group and I can't wait to get to know some of you. I'm a pretty crummy gardener, but I still love doing it, so I check in here for advice and to learn a little bit- I always come away from DG a little bit smarter, so maybe someday I'll be a super gardener! I need to get better because our new house has lots of work to be done outside :)
I read a little about the RU coming up in April- if I can get there, would it be a good thing for someone like me to come, even if I don't have plants to bring? The only thing I can think to bring would be some seed packets I've bought but will not get around to planting- for some reason I have to buy a packet or two each time I go to the store... I'm a marketer's dream.
Anyhow, hello to everyone, and I'll be in touch!

Welcome! I am pretty new here as well and will be going to the Round up to try and meet everyone and beg, borrow, steal some plants. I, too, don't have a lot yet to share but have been assured that it is okay! Come along so I won't be the only newbie and they will have someone else to pick on besides me!

Welcome! Yes - Texas folks are very friendly and helpful! The RU in April would be a great place for you to start - lots of plants will be available - the trade lists are going fast and furious, but you don't have to bring anything (except maybe some food - always food!!). I've been to two of them, and it is a great learning experience as well as lots of fun to talk to everyone. I'm a seed collector too, there are lots of seeds available as well. Anniejo - hope you can come as well! There are always folks who are new or who don't post a lot.

I have met lots of great people at the RU's and hope all new members will join us in College Station on April 12. We talk a lot and eat and talk some more. There are more than enough plants to go around, and you won't get away without some of my extras if I can help it! Looking forward to meeting all of you new people, Patricia

Glad to have all you "new to DG" gardeners join us. I won't be attending the RUs but hope to run into you in the forums and know you will have plenty to contribute. pod

Yes, welcome Everyone, we hope you will have a great time and make a lot of friends on the Texas forum. The RU's are a great opportunity to meet everybody and exchange whatever you have. Keep checking the forum there are a lot of things going on this spring, hoping to meet you soon.

there are also nursery tours sometimes, although I don't think there's been one in awhile. But a group will get together and figure out where they want to go and carpool. It's a lot of fun and a good way to find out where the good nurseries are. Nursery hopping with a group of plant fiends is so much more fun too.:) Hope to see you in CS.

There are several get together in April so I hope you can make all of them :))
and even if you can't make all of them just being in here is great with everyones input to gardneing.

I am still in my first year living in Texas and am still learning on the do's and don'ts for gardening here.
