Delisa's New Double Pink- worth the wait!!

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

This is a Rubirosa x Peanut cross that I started almost 3 years ago. The plant is huge and I missed the first flush last year because i left for NY when she was in bud. Today for the first time I see blooms on her.
This is a DDL (Delisa's Double Leona) pod sister and looks very similar to her, except the blooms are significantly larger than the blooms on DDL. I can't tell you about the fragrance because I still can't smell anything

Here are the two pod sisters in comparison. The new cultivar is on top and the collage on the bottom are pictures of "Delisa's Double Leona". The new cultivar has larger blooms.

Gary and Delisa,

It is so beautiful and I sure hope she has a beautiful smell. Has she been tested for a year or to? Does she hold up to the heat and will she grow in half shade? I grow every thing in half shade or less and it is surprizing what will grow in part shade or dapple shade.

xer... it is beautiful. The pic is such a good one, I can really get the feel of what a double bloom is like as I have never seen one in person. The color is wonderful too. I am so sorry about your inability to smell that most perfect bloom. You will have to get someone to smell it for you till your smeller gets better and let us know just how fragrant it is.

Very impressive. How huge is that plant? When I say huge here it is 4 ft.. I am sure your definition of huge there is much, much larger.

I'm not really good at guessing heights but I am 5'9 and I need a chair to pollinate up on top.

Cave Creek, AZ

What a beauty! I can't believe a brug that big. It must be out of this world to see! I'm moving to Florida!!!

It would be wonderful to live where plants don't die to the ground every year. I miss Los Angeles for that reason only.

You sure do produce some amazing brugs!

They are both gorgeous Gary ! Congratulatons to you and Delisa.

If you want to see what a really large brug looks like here is my Isabella. That is an 8 foot fence she is towering over. At times she can literally have hundreds of blooms on her. In the days when I could smell, my yard smelled like heaven.
The new double pink cultivar is not quite this big (in fact I don't have anything else this big) but she is a nice size growing in a 20 gallon pot.
