Hi! I have loved seeing these posts, especially the one about the polka dots. :)
Quick question -- My Sinbad has lost most its leaves and is looking pretty pathetic with long, bare stems and a few leaves at the ends. I know I've been told it will revive in the spring, but I'm thinking I should probably cut it back at that point. Is this OK, and would there be any point to also taking the cuttings and trying to root them? I've only rooted some big stems from a dragonwing I salvaged from one of my summer containers, and hope it would be as easy as that! Thanks!
sad Sinbad waits for spring...
scubadoobie. I am growing my Sinbad indoors in a window with an eastern exposure. I have two and they have been flourishing and blooming non-stop for weeks. I have had them for about three months, they are young plants. Maybe it just needs repotting, fresh soil and more sunlight. I have good experience with cuttings but there are experts here who can tell you when and how to do this.
Scuba, cutting it back will rejuvenate it and it should start sending out new growth.
When the stems are bare except at the top, those stems will most likely stay bare so might as well prune it. Once it sends up new growth, you can pot it up a size. You can root the cuttings.
My Sinbad rooted in a cup of water in a week or two.
After all these yrs growing Begonia's, I still don't dare prune and re-pot at the same time
