Lilies coming up...

Dandridge, TN(Zone 6a)

I think these might be Triumphators, they started coming up about the end of January, I took this Feb 7 and then covered them with some more leaves. Go back to sleep!
Wallaby, I just couldn't force myself to get down in the mud for a better photo, LOL!!

I'm in Zone 7a and my easter lilies have started peaking through!. Hyacynths are 1/3 of the way up and some daffodils are getting ready to bloom. If Feb. along with my hellebores and daphne! I can't stand it when unseasonable warm weather brings the bulbs and buds out. A late freeze always get them. But, I can't control it so I have to accept it.

I have lilies and hyacinths coming up too, so you guys are not alone! Bonitin and Wallaby both have hyacinths emerging as well.

I think this is Asiatic lilium "London" coming up.....

Oh I expected you to lay in that mud Susan, lol! We had a hardish frost last night, it was -4C in the greenhouse so will have been lower outside, around -6C (21F). Cold again tonight.

My Lilium majoense is just below the surface, although it's still in a large pot I put it in a shady spot a long time ago.

Steve, correction, my Hyacinths are not just emerging, they are racing now, lol I will have to get a pic. That lily looks like a cactus in the thumbnail!

Got a hard freeze here too last night (around -5°)and the night before; all my Hellebores are hanging down their flower stems, it looks worrying but I know they will be ok once they warm up again...
I have two martagons emerging and many other spring beauties in different stages of growth.
Your lily looks enthusiastic Steve!

It was -6C in the greenhouse last night! That means at least -8C outside, the ground is frozen solid in the shadows. I have my L. majoense in the shade and the surface is frozen solid, the tip is near the surface, and I WAS thinking of putting it under cover again. I just have to hope it's OK.

On the other hand, I have some Lilium babies emerging from seed I sowed in January last year, they are under cover and the warm-cold has obviously prompted them, these are the delayed hypogeal ones. Exciting!

I got a pic of my Hyacinths but haven't downloaded yet, they don't look as big in bud as last year but I should have maybe repotted them and removed the Tulips which I have under them.

I've got a large container of Triumphator (allegedly!) coming up. There are about 13 green tips popped up through the soil. I wasn't even sure that they would come up--I bought them 3 for .02 cents at the store I work at right before they were about to be thrown out. I have doubts that they are really Triumphator but I'm looking forward to having a nice big container of some kind of lily:) They were covered in snow a few days ago and it didn't seem to hurt them.

I love this time of year...I think I've seen alliums, tulips, hyacinth and the daffodils are all start to make an appearance.
Great pictures! Know what you mean about the mud:lol: I was outside this morning kneeling on a trashbag trying to clean up the canna bed I left neglected all winter. I felt bad because I saw that the daffodils I had in there were having to push up through all the dead flopped over canna stalks:) I even managed to yank out a few of the canna tubers since the ground was so wet. Plan to dig out the rest and try something new.

Anyone knows if this is the foliage of Lilium candidum ? I have had it once very long time ago but cannot remember its emerging foliage . I wanted to try it again and bought a couple last fall and now I wonder if this is its foliage as I'm not quite sure where I had planted them...:-}

It does look like the drawing here bonitin (you could ask on the lily forum too)

Here are my Hyacinths, after the hard frost undamaged!

Yes, I forgot this wasn't the lily forum. But the drawing is convincing enough for me, so I won't need to post it there.
Thanks Wallaby!
