Hello:
I decided to place my order with Ideal poultry. It should arrive by march 10. Here is what we ordered:
5 Golden Sebright Bantams
5 Silver Sebright Bantams
2 Golden Lakenvelder
3 Buff Orpington
1 White Cochin
2 Production Red
2 White Silkie Bantam
2Gray Silkie Bantam
1 Salmon Faverolle

Can anyone give me any advise on these?

Just if anyone has experience with any of these breeds. We are new to this.

Okay. I have had experience with Buff Orpingtons. (just a little) They seem to be pretty calm and good egg layers. I did keep a Orpington rooster, but ended up with problems with him becoming mean in his second year. Most of the people I have talked to say that's not normal and that Orpingtons are very seldom mean. Needless to say, when he attacked my DH, he went into the pot.

I now have Black Austrolorps which were bred from Orpingtons, and they seem to be pretty well behaved. So, I hope that will give you a bit of advice. But you have to remember that everone has a different experience with chickens.

My silver seabright is one of the sweetest hens I have. My Salmon Faverolle didn't tame very well even though we handled her as much as the others. She also hangs out at the feed bowl a lot. Cochins are nice and so are the silkies. as a matter of fact, my white silkie has gone broody already. She is a very sweet hen.

one of the reasons we don't have salmon favorelle is because of their feathered feet. so make sure you have a nic edry pen for them. some of the breeds you listed do well outside, others do better confined.

you will certainly have a nice mix!

if you have kids, some of these will be nice to show in 4-H. also see if there is a bantam club around you can join so you can fellowship with other fowl fanicers...

we really enjoy the buff orpington, the sex links and plymoth rocks. my kids were able to torment the poor things by putting clothes on them! i did find though that the calmer and friendler the breed the more likely something will get to them to eat them.
