I love this:

And I got some of this from my niece for Christmas. She swears by it:

And for the guys, or those who don't like a girly type cream: try (gotta love the name)
"Zim's Crack Creme". It works & it's inexpensive. Get it at Walgreens or Rite Aid. It heals up cracked skin overnight - herbs & I don't remember what else.
Also - the creams that work the fastest are those that have a glycerine base. Real Lanolin works well too, but very hard to find.

Hey Katye - Great minds think alike. I had one last one to add. My sister-in-law brought it back from Australia years ago. I had to wait until i was home to look it up. This has a slight fragrance, and the lanolin does, indeed, make it wonderfully soothing on your hands. Jean Charles Lanolin Skin Creme:

My two all time favorite hand creams are Bag Balm and Udderly Smooth. My DH really likes Utterly Smooth Udder Cream in the big round jar. I buy both at the feedstore, they truly are utter cream that is used on cows utters just like bag balm I have not tried the Utterly Smooth hand and body lotion. Both have lanolin in them and are inexpensive! I have to say that I have tried all kinds of handcreams including some very pricey ones and this stuff works just as well. I use bag balm on the dogs' pads when they get really bad and rough. Haven't used the udder cream, though. Will have to look into it.

Bag Balm is good for everything!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Sorta like the duct tape of the lotion world?

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Bag Balm the cure for all, love it
Cardboard, concrete, and dirt take all the moisture out of you skin. the best therapy I have ever found, is to coat you cuticles with bag balm, then put a sock over you hands a sleep with it, works wonders. also great for alot of other things too.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

i found another one last night that I like (can you tell that I have different things in different rooms?) I like Burt's Bees Hand Salve (A Farmer's Friend). And they have great cuticle cream and Res-Q Ointment. I like to put them on before I go to bed at night because they smell soothing.

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

I will check my drawers...lol not those drawers, my vanity drawers because a lot of Burt's Bees products choke me and start breathing problems...if I have some I have only used them one time...can't remember if I kept them or threw them out...but if I have some stuff for hands would you like it Katie? Let me know and I will bring it along next time we meet.
Carla

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Sure, Carla, I'll take it. It's kinda spendy stuff and I don't like all of it, but the hand stuff is great for me. Sorry that it makes you choke up

How's your back? Did it act up at all after Saturday?

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Thats the same problem here, I have to be very careful of what I use, My DH is very chemical sensitive.anything that has a smell will set him off unless its real.

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Hi Katie,

I will check, I have a few products for hands I cannot use and I will bring them along and you can keep them, pass them on or throw them out. I have a real problem with some smells/scents and petroleum based products.

No problems from Saturday, that was easy work for me, anything like that type of work is easy...it is when I decide to be super human "again" I have problems...lol

I wish we all lived closer, there is too much distance between all of us!

It was a very nice day today went out and wandered around and played ball with the furballs in the side yard and loved that the daffodils are peeping through as are alot of the daylilies!

Spring is coming despite Punxsutawney Phils (groundhog) prediction,

Oh good. You're right. It would be so much fun if we could do yard work together on a regular basis. Although today I was wandering around wondering what the focus of my yard party should be:

Rip out that stand of salmon berries
Cut down that pile of fallen limbs
Rip out the ivy in the front
Re-edge the beds surrounding the yard
Rip out rhododendrons
Weed

Doesn't any of it sound like as much fun as making a new bed and planting. I voted for that. :-)

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

It's when you have to do all the ripping out by yourself and it takes forever (days, weeks, months...) that it feels like an unwelcome chore. I think doing that kind of job with a crew that makes it go fast, and good conversation also, is not only bearable but could be fun.

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Katie,
It is your choice what we shall do. All of it sounds like fun in a group, and we just might be able to tackle more than one task.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

You guys are tempting me . . .

And it is refreshing to have other people there to talk to making progress on other things while you're reduced to sitting in the dirt because your hamstrings hurt so much. LOL

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Oh goodie, more cheerleading! Ripping outs good - Rach has mantruck to help!

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

So what day would you like us all to come over Katie? Let's get it on the calendar girl!

The hand cream discussion brought back some long buried memories - when I taught school, one of my high school students brought in a bottle of hand lotion. It smelled absolutely wonderful. The reason she brought it in? Well, I had alerted them to reading labels on products. What was in this yummy hand cream - and listed right there for all to see? Human placental extract!!!! Egads and oh my. Never did find that stuff for sale anywhere - and I don't recall the name nor where she got it. Amazing stuff.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Now that's surely a memorable experience. I'll bet she's never forgotten it. How long ago was that?

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

It had to be in the 70's...lol I used placenta on my hair as a conditioner on a regular basis back then...

Olympia, WA

70's sounds about right - actually after I posted that, I googled "human placental extract" and found quite a bit of information and products. Waste not - want not! LOL
